If he has never been worked then I suggest, without being rude, to not breed from him. All you will be doing is contributing to the vast quantity of shite and poorly bred dogs out there. Breeding him

You can't compare breeding running dogs and humans with breeding earthdogs. It is not the same. You are comparing physical attributes with mental attributes.   Breeding untried parents just “coz of

not uncommon in pitbull circles to keep one aside (unworked) for a rainy day

Yes, my Grandad owned Toddy, him and Bruce used to work him together. My dog was bread down from his line, and was actually from a litter from Digger & Lucy(not sure if that means anything to you!!!)

What you said there, was what I was thinking of firstly. Maybe somebody with a working bitch, might want to take a chance, because of my dogs bloodline.........I would end up with a pup related to my dog & the bitches owner has the chance of producing a good working litter !!!!!

Like I said tho, I'm grateful for everyones advice, so I'll have a re-think and see what happens !!!

I'll dig a couple of pics out of him, and see if I can post them on later today !!!!

a hard question to answer, mustang jack the greyhound never raced and sired the winner of the best irish derby i remember(2001).I dont think work purifies a dogs bollix or anything-he will throw the same pups whether he was worked or not-but ive seen dogs from the best of breeding quit-just because a dog has a certain name in their pedigree it dont mean he is carrying any of their genes- then again he could be carryin all of them..Did you ever see a child that looks exactly like one of their grandparents and nothing like their own parents

Breeding untried parents just “coz of the breeding” is reckless and any workers produced will be down to a much greater element of luck than if you were to breed 2 grafters.

Just my opinion.

Which is beside the point as he is not interested in grafting them. He wants a pet. That is a reason in itself why it should never be bred off.

He's 9 now !!!! He's really well bread and been looked after though, and nobody thinks he looks older than 3 or 4 !!!!!

Yeah, my mate who sorted me out with him is looking into it, and asking around his mates, to see if anyone is interested, but to be honest - he's a busy man, so I thought I'd look into it myself - so save mithering him so much !!!!!

Where's the best place for me to buy a bitch? or at least to look(websites, etc) I'm thinking that will be the best route for me to take !!!

PS: No worries by the way, Bruen, would prefer to be shot down with the truth, than be kidding myself !!!! haha.

PPS: I've never worked him, I only like to come on these websites, as I used to go out with my Grandad when he used to work dogs, when I was younger.

Well mucker, he could have been the best dog in the world....but if he was untried then don't bother breeding him, unless your going to rear all pups yourself until they the age to work and then if they don't make the mark then carry out the deed yourself!!!!

This just isn't feasible!!!!

I have dogs that are only 3-4yrs but look like they are 10-11 they are such well worked.....so don't be judging by looks neither, take advice constructively and think smart!

FROM A MAN THATS ONLY AT IT 2 YEARS...... WELL SUPPOSE WHEN YOU READ ALL THE BOOKS AND POSTS ON THESE FORUMS FROM ALL THE EEJITS IT MAKES U AN AUTHORITY ..... WAS IT NOT ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO YOU WERE LOOKING FOR BREEDING INFORMATION???

Of course it doesn't. When breeding any speicies of animal nothing is certain. However, using good base stock will dramatically improve the chances of the off spring working/performing to a higher standard than is likely with a random breeding.
