I am not a trophy hunter and generally don't get many like this boy anyway.

As a matter of interest does anyone know about BASC/BDS/etc measuring service, what sort of money are we talking and do you think this may make it at all.

Cheers

The person to contact is Tony Dolby Welsh CIC measure. His number is on the web site. What you will need to do is skin it and boil it clean. In my opinion leave it as a full scull minus the bottom Jaw. Leave it for 90 days and then weigh it if it is over about 450 grams it is worth getting done as already said if it don't make the grade you don't pay. To get it measured i am sure is £20 then you will have the medal to buy if you want it.

May i say it is a really good trophy no mater what it makes.

'Trophy Hunter' at you service :toast: I'd chuck it Deker... I've made sticks out of bigger ones than that  Only kidding - he's a cracker - That head certainly looks to tick all the box's for a good medal in terms of established coronets, colour, pearling, uniformity and some exceptional fecking front tines :icon_eek: Wouldn't be suprised if he'd killed rutting with those. Hopefully you've cleaned it as a full skull and not nose cut it or anything silly like that just yet - I'd say you were at the very least a high silver with that one but let us know the weight. I wouldn't bother with the BASC as it's not a recognised measuring system. Tony D-W of the CIC is a good bloke and only down the road from me - cost here is 30 for the certificate and medal.

How did you take him? high-seat, stalk, called? The picture alone doesn't quite do him justice :victory:

      Hello!
I'd love to learn more people's opinions on deer hunting using dogs, as it's a very controversial topic in the hunting world. I've only ever used dogs for grouse and waterfowl hunting, but many hunters also use for deer. I write a little hunting blog on the side for fun (this is not an ad, there is no ad/affiliate on the blog but let me know if I can't link!) and I really want to write about the dog hunting controversy.
What are your opinions? For or against, why, why not etc? No judgement, just trying to get the general hunting population's opinions!
      God Bless!

Trip last Saturday to West Sussex in that evil storm, flooded roads, crazy winds .
The usual warm welcome and off out to be dropped in a high seat.3o mins later saw a little white bum ,bins  up it's a  Roe buck Doe and fawn .
Shot the fawn ,nice size Doe and waited but the other  Doe didn't return to her fawn .Green out ,healthy gralloch .
Back to the Bothy, fawn in the chilled and bald bloke to local for a nice nosh.
5am already up ,tea and biscuits meet the other guests and out .Unsuccessful hour in a different seat and off on foot to see a massive buck 10m away. Took the heart shot ,he ran and dropped. This can't be right he was massive, this is a spiker.
Me tit, scope on 9 not 0 so at 10m he looked huge .Nice clean gralloch, and luckily the guide was with me as he was a fat boy to carry.
      Great weekend, good craic,great friends
