whats the best for pigeon [ cartrigde]

Recommended Posts

it really depends on you mate I use 28g 6 shot for my decoying but others like 30-32g carts

atm im useing rc2s plastic wads and they work fine for me and are capable of killing cleanly out to 30-40 yards having said that the barrel was fixed on full choke at the time so had a considerably tighter pattern then normal

Personally my favourite cart for pigeon is 32g of 6 1/2 (Eleys) and I am very confident of clean kills with this load.

That said, my eldest son was using 29g of no6 which did the job just fine.

If you're looking for a cheap load, 28g of 7's do the job, but you have to be realistic on killing range - say 35yards max.

Doubtless someone will say 7 1/2's are fine out to 50 yards but that's obviously BS in my opinion.

Cheers

D.

hi mate, i personally only shoot with a 20bore semi-auto, so theres not a lot to choose from. For the last few seasons i have been using Eley CT28g size 6 shot for everything, and they seem to work fine, cheers HH

I use these on pigeon, crows, rabbits, partridge, pheasants and squirrels.

fiocchi pigeon 32, no 6 32gs are one of the best carts for pigeon in my opinion :good:

A1 to that , and although they are only 67mm , they also cycle perfectly in my Winchester SX3 3 - 5'' that usually prefers 70mm carts

John
