my mate bought one from a pet shop the other day two tier with bars looked good put new bedding in put the bottle on put his jill in and she walked straight out through the bars i laughed my arse off hes fixed the problem now but jesus it was funny

Aren't there any building sites near you ,? Or any pallets which aren't painted have to be disposed of ie shops have to pay to get rid get round the back of shops skips anywhere there's loads of free wood , I used the slats that you make fences out of , have you been down the timber merchants with your measurements and asked for help pricing if up ?

12mm ply at Jacksons, was £13 per sheet a month back, imported stuf, good enough to build yourself a very sound cub

country joe,ply is definetly best, exterior grade better still.dont use osb board, this is cheaper but will disintegrate soon as its damp(looks like very coarse wood shavings stuck together)atb mate

Oh shit, I just got some osb board the guy from the wood yard, says a lot of the lads use it for kennels,and he recommended it to me as I have got it now, what's best to treat it from rotting, paint or wood preserver?

There must be some way of preserving it for outside, as in the village I stayed, a lad had a large pigeon loft made out of it, and it was there for years.

There must be some way of preserving it for outside, as in the village I stayed, a lad had a large pigeon loft made out of it, and it was there for years.

 

The problem is pigeons don't piss and sh*t like ferrets. You can put a thick coat of paint on the outside and lay some vinyl flooring inside to help it from getting soaked. Freecycle usually has people giving away rabbit hutches and chicken runs.

Thanks for all the tips Lads,as I said this will only be used temporally, I have a good hutch,

regarding the osb I will give it a good coat of sealer then paint, I will line the bottom with lino, and put it in my covered Dog run for protection.

to stop the ferrets pissing and shitting in the hutch, what i do is i will have a section of the floor cut out and replace with wire mesh, they will go to the mesh do their buisness and it will fall onto the ground or whatever you put down to collect it, imo this keeps the hutch much cleaner for longer, when i'm cleaning out the hutch all i have to do is change the bedding. i hope i have explained it right.
