All those contributing factors you mention are indeed what contribute to poor shooting along with piss poor preparation of kit,anxiety,pressure and weather conditions that you forgot to mention.None of us set out with these in mind but unfortunately they crop up during an outing especially the pressure issue when in company .I get it and i've shot thousands of deer.I know how to control it but others don't.Maybe we will see a few pics from you about your trips out or a vid or two but then again maybe not .Just to conclude, RE- Johns advertising ,there is a recession on mate or has that not reached the good ole USA yet,lol.

If you read my post you'll see "Complacency, ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, incompetence, lack of concentration, lack of attention to detail or poor attitude". I think these take into account those you mentioned e.g.piss poor preparation of kit,anxiety,pressure and weather conditions. If you pull the trigger when attempting a marginal shot due to weather, environment, company, or pressure. You need to seriously look at your attitude.IMO I accept that mistakes can and do happen,. But I also believe the less gung ho you are the less frequently the mistakes are made.

I'm not that competent with the digital technology we have at our disposal in these modern times and have little or no interest in getting up to speed on it. So I'll have to disappoint in regard to pics and vid's of my hunting trips. My hunting buddy Harvey does have an old russian built supa8 cine camera with a stock of unused film in his store room. Is that any good?

The video is great for showing how it can easily go wrong and how to get the animal down once it goes wrong. Everyone who has stalked any wild animal from your first rabbit to the biggest stag gets the fever! I've seen royal marines take 3 shots to nail a broadside red stag at that range, even they get it wrong.

 

When i was working as a keeper we had a no neck/head shot policy for guests as this was when it was more likely to go wrong.

Well, Bang goes another good thread, sent to ruination by some arsehole who has only been on site a matter of days.

Let the man alone ffs, he's earning his money, doing his job and letting us share it with him ( not the money bit ), warts and all. More real life stuff on this site is whats needed, not keyboard wannabees.

Thanks for your wee observation, but I like deer stalking and LOVE killing foxes, I have just zeroed my 7mm rem mag with 110gr speer TNT hollow points @ 3,600 fps. Now thats respect.
