it is now legal to shoot munty in england with 222 223 is not legal for anything bigger

 

shame it isnt for roe like it is north of the border. talk about inconsistent firearms laws

 

The beardy twats at the BDS talked the ACPO out of allowing .22 for roe in England at the last review some one needs to the bds that modern guns are loaded from the back and dont use black powder LOL

243 is a good all round calibre, certainly the most popular of the middle weight calibres. just to throw a spanner in the works have you considered a 6.5x55, or 25-06? these are gaining quite a following. as for bunnies then 22lr all the way for me.

I would go with 17hmr and 243 the latter as a good allrounder, i use 70 grn soft points wich work very well. Woodydog.

 

This is what I did - 243 as I am mainly shooting fox, with occasional deer.

 

17hmr because I could push the range a little more on rabbits and crows etc.

 

It's a good combo to start out with, the truth is that there isn't a single rifle that will do it all.

I started a thread a while back asking people what calibre they would have if they could only have one rifle. The .243 was the easy winner on its own, but counting all the .220 CFs together, that's Hornet, .222, .223, .22-250, and .220 Swift, they just pipped the .243. The rimmies were a poor third.
