I've got a 410 baikal S/B hushpower and its bloody great :toast: If I could change anything it would be to make it more than one shot and to shorten the barrel a little.

Saying that my mate has the same gun but the new stelth version and its about 2" shorter in the barrel.

If you are happy to spend more money you could look at the mossberg 3 shot pump action, i have never tried one. Go for the baikal S/B you can get one for about half the price of a mossberg, and you dont have to walk around picking up your ejected carridges.

Would not part with mine  its ace :notworthy:

had my single shot baikal hushpower 12g since the summer..........

Bloody great and really quiet gun, literally not much louder than an old spring air rifle (i use hushpower carts as well) shot a few rabbits and pigeons with mine. its not much louder using standard cartridges and i have test fired all sorts upto and including SG cartridges in mine to make sure it works with them......and so far it will digest everything and drastically reduces the noise, but with eley hawk hushpower cartridges its really quiet and the moderator also absorbs and reduces the recoil

apparently the mossberg pumps are not as quiet as the moderator is shorter, and the pump action makes a fair bit of noise too, but i haven't seen or shot one, just what i heard and why i went for the single shot instead.

here's mine (not best pic as from my phone-texted to a friend and e-mailed back)

I have an Investarm Hushpower 20g, when used with hushpower cartridges its quiet and an excellent bit of kit, quite loud though when used with normal cartridges, its an o/u so you get 2 shots not 1 compared to the single shot hushpowers.

When I was looking into buying one I found the choice very limited, either single shots or the 3 shot pumps, the only O/U i could find was the investarm 20g one.

One thing I found with the pump action one was the pump loading is very noisy and would spook things very easy in the field, it would be quieter and take not much longer to just load the single shot guns for the next shot.

The 20g I have is a bit like a drainpipe to look at, but is very well balanced and light compared to other 12g o/u's and just feels right for me, I love it, but its twice the price of the single shots.

can you own one on a shotugn license ? or do you need a firearms .. .and how much would i be looking to pay for a single shot 20g or a semi auto >> ??

As long as its no more than a 3 shot gun you can get one on a shotgun licence, try gun trader website for a scondhand one or http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/hushpower.htm - 29k for a new on.

Ive got a mossberg pump action .410 hushpower which ive had for a year or so now. My verdict on it, is that its good and bad.

Out in the field when your not near any buildings or hedgerows, its about the same volume as a springer air rifle. Once you get near buildings or hedgerows, its louder. Its certainly a lot louder than a pcp rifle, but mega-quiet compared to a normal un silenced shotgun.

The click click of the pump soon becomes anoying however and in the field can be louder than the actual firing of the gun!

Also, .410 subsonic cartridges are not cheap. About 7quid for 25.

Really it depends on what you want it for. I think shooting from a quadbike or when your out in the field looking for any game (rabbits, pigeons etc) then its ideal as it gives you those multiple shots and a wider pattern than an air rifle.

However, if your after rabbits or want something quiet to use around buildings then id definately opt for an air rifle instead. Much more accurate, quieter and cheaper to run.

Thats my experience with the mossberg, but the fully moderated baikal may give people different experiences - ive heard its supposed to be quieter.

I brought a baikel stealth hushpower a couple of weeks ago, i got it purely for dispatch of cage caught foxes as this is what was reconmended by my fao, i have put over 100 carts through it now of various types and the eley subsonics are the quietest i think.

I`m afraid i am going to disagree with most and say its far louder than any air gun i`ve ever fired and i`ve had loads of airguns over the years, i`m sure i may use it now and again for other things than fox dispatch as it is quieter than my unmoderated .410 but for rabbiting i would use the rimmy every time if i can.

They get quieter the more you put through them, it might quieten yet more after another 100 or so.

I love mine, and use it for all my shooting, i dont like wearing ear defenders and also dont want to go deaf .....that was the main reason i bought it.
