Bushnell Elite scopes any good?

Recommended Posts

Well as stated im looking at getting a new scope for my 17hmr just wondering if anyone has any comments on the Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x50 mil dot or the same again but in 4.5-30x50 mil dot or even the Elite 4200 4-16x50 multi x are they good enough for the 17hmr and are they reliable and maybe in the same class as the Leupolds as they are made in America as well, ive tried to look on the net but could not get much info or prices. Any comments-info welcome thanks.

hi mate ive had two of the bushnell elite 4200 tactical rifle scopes. in 6x24x50. and ive used a bushnell 6500 elite tacitical 4.5x30x50

both have superb optics for the money. imo the 6500 has locking turrets which is better. as i found the ones on the 4200 can move easy.

all the ones i had and used where mildot.

if i [bANNED TEXT] for one again i would get the standard crosshair as im not a big fan of mildots. they only other downfall is the fov is pretty small.

and the 30x mag gets abit dull when over 25. other then that there superb and better then leupolds of the same price imo.

the zeiss conquest range are around the same price as the 6500 4.5x30x50 model and imo a better scope with better fov and more clear optics. superb under lamp also. being a 25 mm tube very light

Thanks for the replies i will have to look into it a bit more before i buy and will also try the Zeiss range if they are about the same price.Just one more question for anyone who might have the answer i have got a S+B 2.5-10x56 on my 223 and when i zoom in the cross gets bigger and blocks out small targets but all my other scopes the cross hairs stay the same and just zoom in is there a special name for this as i dont want this type of scope for the 17HMR,Dont get me wrong its a very good scope for foxes and is great in low light just not what i want on my 17hmr.

yes mate the rectical thats gets bigger as you turn the mag because its in the 1st focal plain.

on scopes where it stays the same size its because its in the second focal plain so remains the same.

s&b have pretty thick recticals anyway. so at longer range covers smaller targets like a rabbits head.

zeiss conquest is a good scope to look at. 500 pound secondhand. if you can find one. zplex crosshair or 20 rectical as its know.

thin enough not to cover a small target. but thick enough so you dont lose it under the lamp

i use 3 different scopes on my rifles on the .22lr i use a Burris with the Ballistic plex zero at 50 each increment after that with the plex is 15 yrds so shot out to 100yrds no probs.

on the .17HMR use a Leupold VX-L mounted close to the barrel has the varmint hunter ret which is great fine lines and easy to use for hold over distance shooting .

on the .223 i use a S/B 8x56 yes it does have 3 thick posts but above them is a fine cross hair and does not blot out the target.
