all together i have 5 vizsla's not counting the eight pups, bud i work em on fur and feather hawk and gun, like i said a very versatile breed, not for the rough handler as theyre quite delicate, hitting them is not really a training option, they dont take it and rarely forget, though once you have them where you want them i cant think of a better dog id prefer!!!!

do you work all your dogs mate? 5 vizslas? :D thats a fair amount of dogs! have you ever owned a wirehaired? if so, how do they compare to the shorthaired? do you own any other breeds?

i have two bitches working, another in semi retirement, and two young dogs, one of wich a friend will be having to work over his female finnish gos...

never had anything to do with the wire haired vizsla's tho id not one day rule one out!!!

i also work an english springer spaniel..

two weimeraners and a bull cross lurcher!!!

i also have a 5 month weimeraner pup im considering to bring on....

i work the majority over gun and a few to the hawk i pick up and beat on two shoots as well so i have plenty of work for what i have!!! :clapper:

i can see you know what you are talking about mate, but thats a shedload of money! wouldn't you prefer them to go to good working homes and sell em at £50-£100 each? just seems like a huge amount of money, and as im sure you know, money doesnt guarantee quality. JMO

i vet my dog buyers the same wether the dog for sale is £50 or £1500,it is a fair ammount of money but how do you think i got theese dogs i didnt give £50 a piece for em i worked hard and saved up for the first vizsla i bought cost me £800,ive spent a fortune getting the stock i have, and good workin stock it is,most that know me know i dont keep junk what i have works or goes its simple, money doesnt guarantee quality but what i ahve is quality thats why ive gone to the cost of hipscoring my stock and using other quality stock,if the dogs are above ur cash range then fine,do what i did work at getting better stuff, rome wasnt built in a day its taken me years to get what i have, this is the going rate for this breed of dog, thats the way it is!!!

prices are being kept high for a reason it keeps the people that know nothing about the breed away, vizslas are a relatively new breed into the country a specialist dog if you like we have to look after them no matter what!!! anything from gay gottlieb she'snot a bad author tho there aint that many decent books around!!!

shame on you to question the cost of a well breed pup l/l. if thats the going rate and you want that breed thats [bANNED TEXT] ya pay simple. all my pups go to working homes and the hunters that grizzle about the cost don't get one of my pups, the purchase price is a tiny compared to the ongoing costs of keeping a dog over it's lifetime, it's all the ground work and expence breeding good quality working gundogs that chews up alot of money, selling pups will not make you a millionaire if you breed for working alone, ya might over a few years break even, key word might. 650 sounds like he has priced them to get them out in the field hunting which is where they belong.

thanks kiwi, thats exactly the way i try to do things, working dogs are my life,i generally only breed to keep a pup back for myself tho my plan is a new block of kennels wich is gunna cost about £3-4000 so all the money i ever make goes straight back into the dogs and hunting!!! cheers for the defence mate!!! :signthankspin:
