saluki

Recommended Posts

Had this old boy when I lived in the Middle East; got him given at 6 month and had him PTS at 17 years old. Pure bred Beduin Saluki; he would have added some decent blood to the UK stock, but unfortunately I never had the chance to import him;

I love these threads, But am i right in thinking no one has actually slated kizzy/pharoh/ khan lines everyone seems to agree they are some, if not the best, lines in europe maybe even the world.

fact is they are from the same lines,cruise, cruise junior, kizzy ect ect ect .fact. if they was been bred to further the breed then why isnt there new blood been entered into the breeding lines. im

it seems that the pure saluki has been turned into the new border terrier, it was only 5 yrs ago that you couldnt give them away unlike the border that was like gold dust to breeders. a guy from the

When he died, I was given a replacement; unfourtunately it wasn't a Saluki !!! It was a Doberman !! I did import her, but that was before pets passports, and she had to do 6 month quarrantine, I wouldn't put a dog thru' that again, so I'm looking into the alternatives.

Cheers.

Last time I was out to visit, Hamed offered me a pup, but insisted it didn't go in quarrantine, and preffered I had it from 3 month old, to socialise and train it. In Saudi there is the 2 month house quarrantine agreement with the UK now, so that may be the way to go.

Yes it is, but my saluki was a gift from Prince Turki Bin Faisal of Saudi Arabia, and came from Beduins. It helps if you know the culture and the language when talking Salukis or Falcons to the Arabs. I lived there for 26 years and my son still lives there, so we have a slight advantage if I wanted to get the best.

you missunderstood what i said .. instead of point and slip give them there head a bit more ,

they dont have a naturall instinct to hunt up they are pure sight hound ,,not scent hound ''by the way nice picture ive got of your nights lamping in the states !!

Salukis have been bred for thousands of years as hunting dogs same way we hunt with our lurchers not just point and slip, because of this most salukis are very good at hunting up if you let them and even on the slip will if you know the signs let you know if there is any game around.

it wasn't that long ago you was saying salukis are no good for running over here. funny how the price goes up on them and every one wants one cant wait till the price comes down and all the peddlers stop keeping salukis.

When did I say that,Mush ? And why go on about price and peddlers ???? I have never bred a pup in over 45 years of owning running dogs !!!

Cheers.
