Scotland to restrict airguns?

Recommended Posts

Just caught a bit on the news about power being transferred to Scotland for such things as National Speed Limit, other motoring offences but also banning/restricting airguns.

Anyone know what the proposals are? I checked on the BBC website but it didn't go into much detail.

The Scottish government has been pushing this for a while!! and it will get the powerto do so!! You are niave to think Scotland won't get more adminstrative powers after the "Calman Report" (the nationalist Government took no part in this!! tories, labour and liberal's did!!) but if it happens? it will only affect us and not you.

Tom

Ps: Why post a thread that does'nt affect you? it may be a devolved issue!!

Scottish legistlation has no effect on French, Dutch, German or even the rest of the UK Firearms law at present, but it looks as if we Scots may be in the shit :censored:

SACs will be able to do "feck all" they don't have enough members in Scotland or the financial clout? and a Scottish nationalist government will pay no heed to BASC an organisation based south of the border that's aims are UK wide rather than Scottish (sad but true)

Fair play Tom. It may only affect Scotland initially, but once a ban was in place, it would give westminster a big lever to spread it. As the tv news said, they would be able to raise/lower taxes, set their own speed limits and then ban airguns. As a possible ban was either the 2nd or 3rd item mentioned, depending which news you saw, it shows how high up the agenda it is, and what has been said already to the media. I think anyone has a right to post on this "hot potato".

Can't beat a good witch hunt to whip the public up in to a mass hysteria.
