Got a second hand one. It's quite good, although I've only ever used it and the club's target shooting rifles. Recoil is a little more than I would prefer, but not enough to grumble about, trigger is a little heavy, but again not enough to grumble about...although I would like if it was one of those snazzy two stage triggers.

All in all, for the price tag a great rifle, in my opinion.

Iv had four lightning xl's, first one the silencer had a fault, the second one fired when i took the safty off "on its own" the third wouldnt cock, the fourt lost its power after a few times out. I have the scorpion and the mag isnt very reliable!! Personally i think they should withdraw all there rifles and start over because its nothing short of poor designs & shoddy engineering, they build the lighnings in spain so thats speaks for its self! All there gaining at the moment is a very bad reputation FACT !! Because i for one think there utter shyt period. TMHO Right from the heart . :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

I've a Lightning.

It's poorly built, has a crap trigger, kicks like a .243, is a pig to work on for such a basic gun and isn't very accurate.

Apart from that it's fine.......

I fitted a gas-ram to it a while back and to be fair, it did turn a really crap gun into slightly less crap gun.

Cheers.

I have to echo most of what has already been said unfortunately, which isnt good for me as I have a lightening that I'm about to sell!!!

I still hold an affection for bsa guns though, not because they are good but more because of the nostalgia of happy memories I have of using them. Remember the old Airsporter and Challenger? I've had many a happy day with these models.

Bsa have taken on an impossible task with the lightening, compact and lightweight dont really fit into a spring gun very well. You need a bit more weight to supress the action of the piston and spring. I can see what they were trying to do but it hasnt worked. That aside, there's no excuse for that awful trigger.

If nothing else, it makes you appreciate a good gun when you get one. One thing I can say to the good of the gun is it comes easily to shoulder, and around buildings when ratting it can be quite good fun. With that in mind I would prefer to use open sights for ratting at up to 15 yards and it doesnt have any!!!
