Semi Auto 12G Shotgun

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have £350 to spend on a semi auto 12G shotgun.

Requirements: It needs to have an all black synthetic stock, and hold 2+1 for now - upgradable to 7+1 (FAC) later. Preferably new, but will consider 2nd hand if there is any gun you think is great value

Dont want anything more expensive, its probably only going to be for a little clay shooting after all.

Guns I have seen so far that fit my requirement:

Hatsan Arms Escort Semi Auto 12G Black Synthetic - £340 best price so far (good price ?) I have looked on guntrader.

Webley & Scott 812 Black Synthetic?

Mossberg 935 Black Synthetic?

I dont know much about shotguns.. Are there any obvious guns that I should be looking at? If not I think I'll go with the Hatsan , it looks good and I've heard pretty good things about it considering its low price.

Thanks

Dont do it! You will regret it!!

Get a reasonable second hand multichoke single trigger O/U game or sporter!

Much better and you can go anywhere with it!

Bound to get some replys to this!

yerr but can you upgrade it to a 8 shot

buy one that fits you [bANNED TEXT],thats the single most important thing

nowt wrong with the escorts though and there is alot of good guns second hand on guntrader

to true i take it you have your SGC i have a Midland gun company semi and it is great have shot O/U and i think that for what i do its great but if you only want to bust clay O/U i think would be better for you.

have you shot many shotguns?

P.S semi's bite !!!!!

hehe yeh and fac

in the last two years ive owned 6 shotguns but settled on the winchester 12g o/u as it was the one i always used ;) ,i sold/swapped the rest.

i agree also that if its only going to be used for clays a o/u is a better bet considering you can normally only load two anyway.

but a 8 shot would be fun for rough/pigeon shooting :D

According to both Home Office guidelines and the BASC a condition on a FAC for a long magazine shotgun will only be granted if you can demonstrate a need for controlling flocks of pigeons or corvids to protect crops. :hunter: The BASC add that some forces will not grant them at all. They also say that the legal position of a gun with a temporary magazine restriction is very much open to challenge.

Yeah thats what I'll need it for in the future, protecting crops, but for now it'll be just for some clay shooting, so I can practice lots.

stay away from the escort a pile of shite, go for a beretta 303 you will pick 1 up for that money although im not sure if you get it in black synthetic

It needs to be in black synthetic. Why is the escort a pile of shite? It has a 3 year no quibble warranty so if I dont think its any good , I can just return it.

Also it needs to be semi auto , over and under wont cut it, as for future use it will be upgraded to an 8 shot FAC for protecting crops.

have a look on my topics if you want to see how i got my Midland gun company semi synthetic
Could you give me a link for that? Cant seem to find it.

Midland gun comapny for sale on this site in Glasgow!!! dont know why you would go through the trouble of FAC shotgun's if you have a lot of crows/pigeons and you shoot at them for a week they will f~*k off ;)

did you not catch Deker's experiences with the exploding Escort? I'd steer clear if I was you.

Webley do one although it may be an Escort with a different badge, otherwise there are some slightly more expensive but much better made options.

I fired that Escort before it blew, and I'm really glad I spent the extra on my SX3, irrespective of the dead barrel.

my escort fell in bits everytime i used it and feck all but jams every other shot , you will deff. need that 3year gaurante cos if like my escort and others i know who used to have it then your in for a pile of trouble, plus i could only find 1 small time gundealer here in northern ireland who take it off my hands when i went to trade it in , none of the major dealers here would touch it think that sums the escort up

Was looking at getting an escort but found a Midland by chance got a good deal and could take it onto the clubs traps before i used it!! Fired 25 carts before i bought it and it never jammed! am currently arround the 75 cartridge mark now and still no jamming. (it was second hand EX-DEMO model)

Stripped it and rebuilt it today this is a crutial part of any gun with large actions and alot of moving parts!!!!!!!!!

OIL CLEAN OIL CLEAN OIL CLEAN OIL CLEAN ;);););)

elvolcan be very careful if you plan on having a reliable low maintenance gun forget it. Semi-auto's can be very good guns but you need to respect the engineering within!!!!!!!!!

(If you walk to work in 10 minutes and you buy a bike to get you there in 5 minutes sooner or later and you will be walking and pushing your bike!!!!!)

CLEAN IT AND OIL IT EVERY WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
