  1. Did your daughter ask for a k.c registered terrier or just a terrier ???
  2. The funniest thing I've ever read on here , propper made me laugh , ... Nuke everything , I know what you mean though
  3. Lots of lurcher will hunt , some better than others depending on the cross ,some are better equipped for the task , the amount of effort put in to getting them out ,where your hunting , if there's very little to chase then the catch rate will be low and the learning curve very wide ,and being around other dogs knocking stuff out and catching will help bring a dog on in leaps and bounds but I believe a dog that wants to kill it's prey will be a lot more committed in cover than a dog just hunting , commitment to the task is all important from man and dog combined !!!
  4. She,s dead , been buried about 5 years , have had other lurcher since nothing to compare to her hunting wise , she didn't bush she hunted , pin pointed and caught more stuff in cover than any I've seen would have another tomorrow ,there's a few off here that have seen her work , just stories now , a lot of dogs become legends after there gone ,but she was my bench mark dog ,only got my busher after losing my last lurcher he was a good all rounder but each time I lost a runner I'm losing a hunter/ bushe r also as their bought up hunting ,so jumped in and got a purpose bred busher and am more t
  5. How old are the bush ers your running ? Pick the best busher you've got , and i,le bring mine when she,s out of season , am very interested to see what I'm missing , I live in the Midlands also my bushe r is beagle/harrier xbeagle/spaniel not that old and had a slow start but knows her job , I doubt very much she will make me sound daft ! ! !
  6. And real smart pup looks a cracker
  7. Dam was bull, grey didn't see sire , a good honest bitch and very gutsy ,
  8. How many bush ers have you got ? My old lurcher bitch missed nothing at all , and would flatten cover , there's a massive difference between a dog hunting by scent and one hunting on instinct , a good lurcher bought up hunting cover ECT uses both and I doubt by your statement you've seen a good hunting lurcher ,
  9. Not heated ,it's no skin off my nose either way , the thread said who do you admire , the old chap I know is passionate about t terriers committed to the cause and in it for the right reasons , very time served , respectful of quarry and the dogs and future sport ,no bullshit with drive to spare and fair play to him I say and any others like him
  10. Find it hard to believe anyone can put a high level of effort in 30/40 years for no money and not have enjoyed it lol and he doesn't need to have seen other terrier work to compare too ,he,s digging his own dogs week , in week out , and as for giving the dog time he isn't digging blacks he,s digging a much much slower maturing terrier lol and has had some very good dogs as I said he,s not big headed but when you can get a conversation out of him it's easy to understand the passion he has for the terrier game and I believe give credit where it's due not try and put down someone I've never met
  11. And any man can knock on a door to obtain permission ! I never wrote poaching/trespassing makes a better terrier man or that the chap I know of , was the best at it ,but you managed to crab him anyway that's foolish I'm 40 have a hard job with a big young family to keep and there are some Sunday mornings when it is easier to stay in bed and not sneaking around in the dark , ringing mates up to make sure there on route etc , maybe things in life are catching up with me or I've just lost some drive but one thing I know for sure is the stubborn old chap will probably be on his way back home from
  12. A life time gaining permission what a good read that would be best seller !! Knocking on a farm door isn't leg work , and I won't be bringing my son's up telling them about wich terrier man had the most permission slips in his glovebox
  13. There's an old boy I know of , only been out with him a couple of times years ago , still at it he,a about 60 , bar none the most genuine yet stubborn terrier man I've ever met , digs on his own most weekends through the season (Friday ,sat,Sun )always respects his quarry (has a closed breeding /cubbing season ) out at first light back fills properly ,and never heard him brag once , the drive he shows easily puts most to shame and he,s put a lot of tackle away and the man has'nt got one square inch of permission and never has ,I won't put his name on here as he would moan like f#ck but there
  14. So the parents to these pups are unbreakable ???
  15. I've got one here very similar stamp , was a slow starter had it 3 years now and doing me proud knows it's job lads on here have seen it go can't put pictures on open forum , had to up the security , don't want her going missing !
