  1. started off with catapault. at 15 in 1970.got a dog gsdxg bred dogs up to mid eighties started to lose my keeness hares were in short supply could not find enough to course .hunting ban made things far far worse .got bit by a deer tick caught lyme desease was knackerd tired underweight night sweats etc.in my fifties so very slow recovery then got bloody shingels.been out with my mates whippets started to feel the old urge to hunt .slowly powering back up to full power.never will be the game there was in the seventies.but hopefully will find something to chase.older and wiser more careful wher
  2. paulus.i think you are right about to much bull in some cases .this cross is ideal for strenghtening weak lurcher strains.i think in a hailf cross bull you may well get some problems.but it would not occur in every case .quarter bull to quarter collie to hailf greyhound ;quarter bull to quarter saluki hailf greyhound .something on those lines would give you the build and restrengthining needed;to be honest i have not seen any first x bull xg run so i couldnt say if some lack the required speed.it would be intresting to hear from owners of this cross brains stamina speed problems etc
  3. im glad to hear that the bull x is getting the attention it deserves .lots of lads on here think a dog has got to be lightly built .they miststakenly think the heavy built dogs are going to be to slow and not up to the job .some of the bigger versions 27 inch and upwards 75 lbs or more .look great muscular powerful lurchers built for the job .i have seen a few on here and looking at the build of these dogs you can see they are not the sort of dogs thaht are going to break down or be lacking in courage. combine the prey drive of the greyhound with the hardiness and toughness of the bull and yo
  4. bunnys .thanks for the offer .i think one should turn up from henlow fairly quickly hopefully.if not i will contact you.
  5. bunnys .when you say as fat as a bullock.people need to understand what you mean is the dog is a bit overweight .it does not mean its built like a bullock/. i got my mate to put a ad up on henlow dog tracks noticeboard.im going to get a greyhound bitch and breed some myself .if i pick the ones that have broken to the greyhound .i will invite some of these lads on here out to see whaht a good excample is capable of . i think they will be very pleasantly surprised
  6. .i had charlie dgxgsd lurcher x greyhound the bitches stayed all night dogs were useless.crossed andy wxgl good dog great stamina ace on rabitts crossed to a bedlington xwhippett all the pups could not stay .one of charlies bitches was purchased by some lads in wales preban she was called rosie caught lots of fallow preban.yet the dogs had no wind at all
  7. bunnys .i think the dogs shape is ok tho it looks a bit over weight .people say about the dog being heavy.i was up at a place called wing hill this week and i met a man walking greyhounds he only has open class dogs and he had a black and white greyhound dog with him it was about 28 at the shoulder and was very well built the dog weighed at least 85lbs.as for people saying gsdxg have no stamina my dogs never blew up they were good in thick woodland and in the open .they caught daylight hares regulary .they were very good trackers .i think if a dog is not fit it can give the wrong impression a
  8. deerman.easy deer +big numbers.but i dont think one dog could take those red park stags pre ban they are massive .one hit my car once montego estate pushed the passenge wing right in plus door pillar and run off.weight between 15 stone to 31 stone.i have been up real close to one of those monsters .you would need at least two big wolves to bring one of those down .if it was in the rut those big stags would smash a dog into pieces
  9. borderscott.i got lost i thought i was on the footpath .i have never been here before .
  10. lab-tastic .no i have not if i was dead i couldnt prove any of my lurcher breeding theories could i.
  11. i was in a field about a year ago when i came across a chinese water deer .its fur had been stripped off on one side and the whole side of the deer had been eaten.there is no way a fox or foxes could have eaten that much of a deer.a few weeks later i saw a decomposed muntjack deer in some tree branches .which was to high up for any one to throw it.years ago in a wood im certain i saw a lynx like looking animal one second it was there then it was gone.at miltonbryan near woburn a black panther like cat has been seen several times.has anyone on here seen dead deer high up in trees or hailf eate
