  1. I'm sure my phone was on but I'd have been hard pressed to get there in time. Funny how those little stones do grow isn't it. Great write up as usual mate.

I think all the talk from the NK gov't is just their way of keeping their own people in check. Trying to stir some national pride by saying "see how strong we are, we stand up to the Americans". I am not the least bit worried about NK. The enemies I fear are the ones within our own borders and within our own government. We have been nearly effectively defeated already from within. It won't take much more for the US to degenerate into civil war. My own brother is planning to move out of the country this year and I am thinking it over as well. The US citizens a generation or 2 ago prided themsel
  3. Great pics as usual Kay. Did you snap all those deer shots quick before they ran off or did they just stand there for you? Would love to see some more black and whites of farm buildings some time if you're of a mind to. Something special about those.
  4. Sussex, you should write a book someday. Your write ups always put me in the mood to get back to the field. Thanks. And thanks for putting up the pic Hutchey. Really something that bone sticking out.
  5. Absolutely fabulous site Dave! Thanks for that! (By the way,my family immigrated from Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1751 and I've always hoped to see it myself someday.)
  6. I appreciate the link, Andrew, and the advice and insights from all. The youtube video was excellent. Very enlightening. Thanks all!
  7. Always enjoy your write-ups Sussex. Thanks.
  8. I've just purchased a Winchester model 70 .243 super short and haven't had time to try it with different loads yet. I bought it mainly for my young son but I'll use it myself some as well. We'll be hunting deer mainly. I've looked over balistic charts for this one some and hope to try it out soon at the range. Just wanted to have any advice from some with more experience than myself. I've always used a Marlin 30-30 til now and limited my shots to about 120 yards. With this .243 we'll be shooting up to about 250 yards (maybe 300 after I know it really well). Based on chart data I'm favori
  9. Welcome. Look forward to hearing how you compare the hunts there to back home. Be sure to post some write ups for us. There's a bunch of first class hunters on here. I hope you get to hunt with some while you're there. Great bunch of guys. Very knowledgeable.
  10. We have the same law here, at least for dove shooting. I'm not sure about other species and other parts of the country. Of course a dove moves too fast to shoot at more than 3 times and as tegater said it deserves to get away if you haven't hit it in 3 but it is frustrating when you get on a really good shoot and the next group of birds is on top of you before you have time to reload from the previous. For those that shoot at birds as poorly as me it doesn't matter how many shots you have anyway. I can hit clays pretty fair but always botch it on the birds. I think I'm not leading enough.
  11. Which do you favor, a light grain bullet for flat shooting or heavy grain for knock down?
  12. Carraghs Gem, I tried to pm you about the levis but it says you can't receive any messages. If you don't find what you want on Amazon just pm me details and I'll see what they are asking in local stores next time I'm to town. Art
  13. This sounds like most of my hunts this year. Right deer standing in the wrong place or wrong deer standing in the right place. Always just good to be out though and the owl is a nice plus.
  14. These folks offer the hunt you are looking for but I don't know anything about them personally so can't recommend them per se. http://thehuntingco.com/south-coast-safaris I hope this is helpful.
  15. My brother said he saw a spot on the local news this past weekend that said the hog population is out of control in Lowndes County Alabama now and they were asking hunters to come after them. He said they even ran a special segment after the report on how to hunt hogs. Not sure I have time to be driving down there but it sure is tempting. I know a fella that works at the local hardware store here that hunts them just about every weekend. He says there are plenty closer by and I can go with him but he only hunts them with dogs. I would prefer to stalk or sit in a high seat.
