  1. Thanks guys, I will just try a little more oil and elbow grease and see if that shifts it. Thanks, Lauben
  2. Hello, Ok I need to pick some fluid to help me clean my new shotguns barrels as I am starting to get some deposit build up. Now I have been using just a normal cleaning brush set to try and remove the deposits but a number of people have suggested that I should be using a cleaning fluid like Parker Hale's 009 or Youngs 303. Now I have also been told about using ATF fluid to do the same job as it is a lot cheaper and works as well. So the question is has anyone tried the ATF route and what do you guys use to help clean your guns barrels. Lauben
  3. I've got my SGC and note saying they will come and see me again in 2 months to make sure I have done as they have asked. Which is fine, and more importantly I have my SGC now so I can go get a gun. Lauben
  4. Afternoon All, Well the FEO came round and he actually apologised for the mix up and said it was all down to him mixing up the appointments. He then went on to look over the house and we had our little chat I offer him a brew and he said no thanks and even turned down a biscuit!!!! He then went and had a look at my safe and was very complementary about my choice of safe and was happy with it's placement. So all looks good, I do have to either change my front door or fix another BSi approved Yale lock as currently I only a full mortise lock and also add some additional locks to the window
  5. Errr the appointment was made Wednesday at 0900h not Tuesday at 1400h! It was the FEO that had made a mistake not me delswal. I did offer to make time but said I would need 30 min to sort out a meeting that was also booked for 1400h. Anyway we will have to see what tomorrow brings, hopefully it wont be a problem and I will get my SGC. Lauben
  6. Thanks guys, Not sure I'm off to the best start to be honest. I had a phone call from the FEO saying he was sat outside my house and was ready to do my assessment. I had to say sorry but now was not the best time for me as I was working from home and had a number of meeting I needed to call into. He then said well that's not very good given we arrange for 1400h today I had to politely say no we had arranged for 0900h on Wednesday Oh dear, Lauben
  7. Hello All, Well I have just had the call form the FEO to arrange my visit and chat, for this Wednesday. So fingers crossed he will like what he sees with the safe and be happy that I pass muster As this is my first time at this I'm not 100% sure what the FEO actually does so any heads up would be good too? I'll let you know how I get on. Lauben
  8. As already said yes they do, the plus is a slightly deeper safe so you don't have to remove your scopes.
  9. Sporting Shooter, I asked about that and was told that as long as the loft had a suitable access and ladder then this was the preferred location for my FEO's as in there words "most thieving scumbags are too stupid to look in the loft, they just what they can grab and go". Having said this, I fully agree that no safe or security control is going to dispel an attacker who either knows that they are doing, or is determined and has time. I'm waiting my phone call to tell me when the FEO is coming, so once they have been I will update. Lauben
  10. Hi Lordecon, I'm currently going for my SGC with the GMP and I've been advised by both the RFD and the FEO to get a Brattonsound gun safe as they are the ones that FEO are happy with and the ones they consider to be the "best". In the end I went for Brattonsound Sentinel + 5 gun safe. This one has both the lockable ammo box at the top and is deep so you dont have to take your scopes off each time you put your gun to bed I also had a good chat with the FEO over the phone to ask about where best to put my safe, he told me good places were the loft, basement or bedroom. But that they
  11. +1 for the Ultra a great little gun and I can get 50 good shots out of mine easy. Mine is the slightly older Ultra Multishot MMC.
  12. Anyone every tired the diana PCP's, I love the look of them but have heard some horror stories. Although these have all come from friends of friends or a guy that I know, type stories so I'm not sure how valid they really are. Lauben
  13. Always have, Always will, no matter what day it falls on!
  14. To be honest I was not really buying it for the laser as I'm not a great fan of giving your position away and scaring the prey away, however I did like the set up and think it would be a nice little present for me (from the wife and kid) without breaking the bank.
