If you want ex-batties, there is a group of people that do regular rescues. I can't remember their name, but if you go onto the "down the lane" forum on Facebook, they are affliliated with them, you will also find loads of help and advice from them. The group that do the batty rescue organise "drop off points" all around the country, so you should be able to find one close to you. I have been advised that I should not give my Chooks anything Dairy?! BUT, I have been given so much advice by different people, I think that I'll just do what I think works - trial and error. Some people say cook veg scraps, others say give them raw. Some say give oyster shell, but I bake my shells from used eggs, then crush them into a fine powder to add to their food as a grit. Hi, I am in Somerset and would like to keep Chickens. I was looking after some for "so called friends" who moved away, but they got nasty about it saying that I hadn't been giving them enough eggs (I got 1 laid a day!!!!!). So, I decided to start off and get my own hens and house and coop, also a nesting box. If anybody in Somerset has any of the above to offer, then I would really appreciate it!
