How is yours for injuries mate? I have heard a lot say they are very accident prone suffer with their feet etc. mine has been good so far only had the odd knock nothing major quiet tough to be honest, i suppose they are all different though.mines ok never had any problems yet though he's still a pup about 12 or 13 month old but hes tough as old boots very sensible controls his speed rather than hit in to everything I'm over the moon with him tbh sounds like mine then this is mines first season as well i think they are a good little cross for the bunnies.how tall Is yours mate tbh i wouldnt have any other breed now it's like using a bowsaw for tree felling when u can use a chainsaw lol I'm hooked anyway haha I know what you mean mate mine lives in doors the only fault i can say really if you can call it a fault is she was a bit of a nightmare for chewing but that's stopped now, shes spot on walks by your side like your shadow.Work wise I think she is going to turn out good well im hoping anyway , the rabbits around my area are not easy to catch the dogs got to work hard to get them she's doing well I think, learning quickly.Mine is 23 inches to the shoulder how tall is yours? nice dog mate mimes about 22tts rabbits are scarce round here so you don't get many runs but hes catching more or less everything he runs about time my dogs are usually useless lol Nice size mate , sounds like my area then they are a bit thin on the ground here as well.Sounds like yours is doing you proud keep us posted in her progress. I think they learn to use their gears a bit more over time mine was full speed on every slip at first now she controls it like you say , keep us updated on how yours turns out mate over time.

  9. Few Pics Of The Pup.

Update on my pup, with her first season pretty much over now she has done me proud so far.She is 23 inches to the shoulder 19 months old now,I had a few initial problems with her stock training when she was a pup but i persevered and now she wont look at a sheep at all.She is a very loyal dog she's like my shadow everywhere i go she is by my side.I started her on the lamp the beginning of this season just ending at first she wasn't really watching the beam and trying to use her nose a few trips out and she soon cottoned on that its a lot quicker to run back to me for the next slip rather than hunt up.I have taken everything really slow with this pup as i didn't want to rush her into it ,I think this approach has paid off as she is shaping up well. She is spot on now when out on the lamp straight back after a slip.retrieves back to me, watches the beam and always gives a 100%..She has improved a lot more now when out with the terrier bushing she hangs outside waiting for a bolter but is not afraid of cover.I'm going to carry on her mountain walks , road walks and cycling with her by my side now the seasons near enough over to keep her fitness / stamina up , and mooching with the terriers.
  10. First X Whippet Greyhound.

Mines turned out good I'm very pleased just had her first season switched on to the lamping now , a lot of prey drive , really good nose and a very loyal dog. She's not a first cross though both parents were whippet x greyhounds , i've heard people say they are not very intelligent i don't know about other whippet x greyhounds but mines on the ball definitely not thick.
  11. Feeding Lamb

My lurchers staple was always beef mince and tripe which she got daily along with chicken wings, liver, hearts etc. Recently changed over to lamb and tripe mince in the last few months,i think its put weight on her and her coat looks even better than it did i don't know if its due to the higher fat content in the lamb or what.
  12. Crufts 2017.

I tried to watch this, but got so angry I couldn't watch it all. As for the question of cruelty: how can any sane person possibly compare correct hunting practices with the cruelty involved in deliberately breeding dogs who suffer agony because their skulls are too small for their brains? It is a sad documentary but i think more people should watch it and see how messed up some of the dogs are , i think a lot of people don't know how bad Crufts is i didn't know much about it myself until i watched that documentary.Since then I've done a bit of reading on some of the genetic problems these dogs have, its shocking that it is allowed to go on to be honest.Crufts originally started from the eugenics movement, a bit like Nazism but applied to dogs, all a bit weird if you ask me.
  13. Book Recommendations?

Ye i agree on that mate he did tell a few pork pies definitely , i have read murder machine a few times brilliant book Demeo was a bad egg you wouldn't want to go to his bar for a night out. Most of the cold blooded hitmen turn into grasses in the end to get a reduced sentence that's why the mafia in America now has lost a lot of power.Didnt Roy Demeo get killed because the rest of the Gambinos thought he was going to rat on them all as well? If you like your true crime books read The Black Hand : The Story of Rene 'Boxer' Enriquez and his life in the Mexican Mafia by Chris Blatchford.
  14. Crufts 2017.

Here is something that annoys me,if you get talking to someone when out with the dog and they ask about your lurcher etc. if you ever mention you work your dog you can see the look of disgust in their eyes as if you are some sort of monster. But its acceptable in their eyes for them walking around with their inbred mutant dog that they probably paid a grand for, gets limited time out on the lead and is fed a diet of processed crap food. You hear loads of scare mongering stories about dogs used for coursing game and so on in the media i don't see many stories about the health problems in dogs from obesity or the genetic problems in some lines of pedigree dogs.

Interesting documentary on Youtube about pedigree dogs and the show fraternity, worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqtgIVOJOGc
