Funny theres a link with the hunting communities problems here . We have all seen antis bussing into your areas ,maybe one or two locals but the rest have come from miles away with the sole intention of winding you up or causing trouble . My pup is about the same age and I am pretty inexperienced ,big bald and beautiful sent me one of plummers books (lurcher and long dog training) and I've found it very useful . The main thing that helped me is retreating a little bit , the dog already likes to be by your side when he picks up his dummy even if he intends to not fetch it he will look up to you for reassurance if you back away a bit at this point it can help give him the spur to return rather than mess about .
