  1. Love giving mine pigeon in the winter or cold nights as by the time they finished with the pigeon there beds are cosy warm thanks to them using the feathers.. same with pheasent.... ive never fed mine crows or magpies.. one reason is cos' if i shoot any my mate gets them for the hawks.. another is because i got told ages ago they are more likely to carry diseases.. we dont eat things that eats another animal (that i can think of off the top of my head).. and very few predators do (agian, that i can think of)... however i do know loads of lads feed them and dont have a problem.. its just no

Started ferreting without a dog but once i broke my patterdale to the ferrets i relised just how much more fun and succesful having a dog with you is... He seemed a natural. marked sets perfect.. if he doesnt look interested in an area.. theres nothing there.. it saves alot of time.... he pins rabbits in the net until i get to them too making for less escapes. On friday im actually picking up a lurcher pup in the hope that i will be able to do those sets that arnt able to be netted up.. my patterdale marking and lurcher catching is going to be a very good combo. I now wouldnt be out fe
  3. I've not read the posts in this so ill probabley be repeating alot of stuff already said however.. its really cheap if you look around.. firstly.. they eat pretty much anything you hunt.. then if you run out of game.. just go to the "oops" isle in asda or tesco or wherever you shop.. or the reduced to get rid of stuff section.. pick up some mince, chicken, turkey.. anything that isnt pork really.. I always have buiscut ready just incase so one bag usually lasts quit a while.. bedding i use shredded paper.. my misses works in a school so i get binbags full of it.. when its cold i use st
  4. they all look in good condition at least.. again well done mate.. good luck rehoming them
  5. well done....nice one mate good luck with it
  6. pretty sure noone has any say if their cat gets killed while not in their garden or premesis.. something to do with a cat being a possesion? Im not sure on the specifics.... just thought id throw that in there though saying that one of my permissions has SO many feral cats its unreal..ive not too long ago, seen pregnant ones walking around... crap yasel when they jump out at you like!! on another permission.. the owner genuinly believed there was some kind of large cat (not like.. lion sized but bigger than your average house cat) in the forest area of his land..to the point that he g
  7. there is a small gap and stones and what not for drainage (the pictures of the frame were took before we finalised it all properly but i assure you there is drainage) and im going to drill holes aswell in the wood.. i didnt want to put a door on the front of it..just because it seemed more hassle than it was worth.. im only short so i will just climb through the shed to get into it.. i have to climb in the ferret run to clean it properly it doesnt bother me at all.. i couldnt make the run any bigger as theres a window in the shed i wanted to keep there.. its just over 5ft at the heighest point
  8. Well as some of you may know im getting my first lurcher on Friday..the only rule by the misses was it stays outside (2bedroom house 2 terriers and a 6month old .. no room for another dog haha) .. well the ferrets are in the shed about 4ft up in their hutches so i figured what better place to put a dog than underneath ... im a ceramic tiler and plasterer so joinery isnt my strong point but heres what ive come up with in 4 days..... The flap is temporary.. think im going to try get some of that butchers stuff.. the bed area (not show) is raised and there is insulation around and underneeth.
  9. yep.. we sometimes get phone calls with the usual "theres tons of rabbits when are ya next up?" so we bite our lips and go.... our closest permission (out of 6) is about 30 mins away (well.. we have one 10 mins away but theres nothing at all there we dont even count it as permission!) and the rest 1hour+ ... worth it though
  10. looks good mate.. good luck with her!
  11. I entered my younguns at around 6-8 month (cant remember exactly) . which was basicly the end of the season.. just to give them an idea and finish on a high... i put them down with my experienced male ho took a good beating on there first time so im glad he was there to be honest... they worked well but just excited too much when they come out of a hole when theres lots of rabbits... im looking forward to the start of this season as they will be older (obviously lol) and a couple of trips out they should calm down.
