  1. you're be fine to do them at the same time- you'll only need to use Drontal every 6 months or so if you're using stronghold too.
  2. Sound lad, needs more people in gundogs like you. I got a trained FTCh x OFTW bitch, 5 year old, for £150 cos I was in the right place at the right time and proved I wasn't a dick. Drove from Dorset to Sheffield for her mind!
  3. what's the range on it, and does it still work in cover (had experiences where some stop working as soon as there's a tree in the way!)
  4. sounds a very handy dog for someone. I would take some cash as a deposit of sorts- if they've got the dog a year on and check in with you reguarly, return the cash, but people can come across very plausible and genuine and then disappear into the night.
  5. Me and a mate have been given the opportunity to sort out a large old disused pheasant pen on a former shoot and re-stock it, mainly to use as a training pen for the dogs, but with the possibility of trickling the birds out into the surrounding woods and shooting a few over them, all being well. The actual pen is quite uptogether, even still has electric fence round it, but an area of it is SERIOUSLY overgrown with nettles- like they're taller than head hight, and thick as feck. Can these be sprayed off to any great effect? If so,with what, and how long before putting birds in should we d
  6. sounds like you've done the little mite a very big favour. I would be looking for probably a knowledgeable woman or a very, very patient/soft man for him, someone probably on their own, with tonnes of time for him to put right what's been done wrong before you had him, and he'll turn out ok.
  7. thanks mate, it's settling down quite well now, still paces occasionally, mainly in the morning when it gets light, the birds are tweeting etc etc which is understandable, but with two stuffed kongs in there and a good routine he seems to be getting there.
  8. Is it inherently wrong to kennel one dog alone? I ask as I bought a new young dog (8 months) last week, who has always been kennelled in his previous home, within a converted stableyard setup, his stable housed him and two other youngsters, they were kept apart by partitions but could see/interact with eachother. I have also bought a kennel/run consisting of the usual sleeping box and run combo. My older dog has always lived in 24/7, but I would like my new dog to be able to come in the house, but go out to his kennel at night and when I'm out. I don't want to move my older dog outside at

  10. Jesus lads, the bloke's put a long, well-thought through post on trying to do the best for his dog and all that comes of it is 3 pages about its nads?! FFS.

  12. he's a stunner. I won't be in the market til March earliest, wish I was tho!!
