  1. A vet friend once told me that bitches born either side of dog pups have more testosterone in there system and will sometimes show dog like tendencies. Wonder if this could have an effect on how a bitch works? I've had a bitch that was the only bitch in the litter and she would even cock her leg so might be some truth in it.
  2. I'm sure some earth's have a large number of ticks present as I've had the same problem in the past and pretty sure it's from the same earth's.
  3. Cheers I've got a tick remover and have picked them off but it's a on going battle and will try the sheep dip in the future to try and make the job easier.
  4. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on prevention of ticks after a day our. Just noticed about 20 on one of the dogs that she must have picked up from an earth. she's up to date with spot on treatment as well.
  5. I've been looking for a .410 shot pistol for ages ideally one that's nice and compact I did talk to my FAO about the judge and was told that it wasn't allowed because it has a rifled barrel a d is classed as a 45.
  6. How do sparky87 how do you find the 410 in terms of dispatch work? I've been looking for one for quite a while now and have seen these ones at York guns but am a little worried it may be a bit bulky for terrier work.
  7. have been finding a few pigeons about that are just sitting on the floor or just not flying well at first thought they might have been shot but cant find any injuries on the birds that the dog has found. all the birds have been alive but not well and there are big flocks feeding on the acorns at the moment was just wondering if feeding on high numbers of acorns might course the pigeons to become unwell?
  8. i would say try to get a working pup and see how it turns out at the end of the day if it works you will be a happy man. and you will learn with the pup theres no right or wrong way its just about what works and either way its a great feeling to get a result with your own dog!
  9. can i just say that have dug to both of these dogs and the dog is a credit to beartraper hes 9 years old ish and is like a ticking clock just bays all day but will not let anything push past him he sertanly has justified the right to sire this litter. the bitch is a clever bitch that almost always does the job without getting herself in trouble and can be used 2 or 3 times a day no bother. not sure if there are any left to go but if you have had 1 best of luck.
  10. has anyone used the new DLR box? theres not alot of information on there web site.
  11. Hi does anyone on here breed small ferrets in the north wales area? am looking for a hob kit so i can bring thhe size down of my line.
  12. not a problem!!! i'd just like to ask......does anyone have any knowledge of what these boxs are like in the warm weather???? i've a few terriers and its not practical to walk them all together around the neighbourhood. so i usually would drive down the road a few mile and let some of them out for a run, throw them in2 the boxs and then let the rest out. before i buy i'd like an opinion of someone that owns or has owned this type. they look the job YES. BUT i get the impression that they would sweat the bag clean off a dog on a warm day. maybe wrong hi i have one of dogtrans box's and
  13. hi my terrier is steady to ferrets would this mean she would hunt a mink or not?
  14. I have a patt x russel bitch and cant fault her she'll work all day and is great with kids and other dogs and she will catch rabbits in cover. my mates dogs which are border x russel and lakeland are if anything better as they have more experience. Its not what breed you choose it how you bring them up and sociolise a young pup that matters.
