  1. I assume you are using rws dk's if so they are deadly on fallow deer and red deer sized game. Im hooked on their ammo and now load for hunting. I use DK's in my 7mm long range accubonds tugs(uni)in my 30 06 long range accubonds and hmantels and tugs in my 9.3 have also tried tugs an a 300wm but, my blaser and past sako75 did not like them. I have take pigs goats fallow red chital rusa sambar camel donkey bantang and buffalo with these. Enjoy those freaky bullet worth every cent for me.
  2. The r93 and r8 are both magnificent rifles and is the merkel at half the price. You have failed to list the benefits or small disadvantages of both. Own one shoot it and you will quickly see why thet are far better than anything ever been made. Chalk and cheese no brainer.
  3. Well here goes im gonna upset a lot of POMS! i am sorry to say landys and rangies are absolute buckets of s..t. 4wd's are tried and tested and built primarily for the arab and aussie market, we are the resting grounds. Manufacturers build cars according to our demands. Landrovers simply are absolute lemons for ausssie conditions. Always have issues where do i start! Range Rovers dont even bother they spend more time sorting out electronics than 4wdriving Nissans patrol gq was great. new car great but engines are lemons Toyota are by far the best. They will working day in day out, all a
  4. G'day from Australia. Over in this part of the world where pigs are more common we use anything! .222 upwards. I have 1000+ grunters with a .223 55gn nosler ballistic tips. When walking up game in thick forest, swamps or lignum i use a heavier caliber as hydrolic shock goes a long way when shooting a charging wounded pig. Contrary to most peoples opinions they are not that bad a .223 will punch straight through both shoulders on animals up to 100kgs. But hey we catch with without guns and stick them with a long bladed knife.
  5. Go the s&b variable by 56 although it will require highish mounts it will make running shots on deer easier at the lower magnifications. In Aust. fixed scopes are no longer popular as the diversity of the variable allows for adaptability in many condition. A great compromise for a small decrease in field of view etc. What reticle will you be looking at?As the German #4 may block out the fox.
  6. Wise man good choice. Don't tell too many people, they might take yours for a test drive! Before you know it there goes the secret of this beautiful caliber.Everyone will want one!
  7. Perhaps i should have elaborated! 85 receiver is the same as the 75. tikka and sako rings are interchangeable, bases will be required on the sako for those warn rings. They will be a futile exercise as they will not provided for the correct eye relief unless your scope tube is on the longish side. Warn does make qd rings for sako which don't require bases you will usually strike the same issue with most hunting scopes. As mentioned sako are smart they wont even release specs so others cant copy and better theirs. There are not many viable options. My advise would be to purchase OFFSET optiloc
  8. Nick G. Pioneering White shark fisherman and professional kangaroo and fox shooter is unfortunately no longer with us so his call is difficult find. Do a search on the net you might be in luck. Worth getting sent as is a great caller. Good luck
  9. Also look at lieca binos. 8*56 too big, bulky, heavy for stalking.Stick withbinos to 40-44 objectives. The only pair i use these days is lieca geovid 8*42hd as they have a range finder and allow for finer focusing at distance. They are the best kit every stalker should own a pair!
  10. 7and 8mm hand gun prodjectiles fmj(max penetration) and something similar to a wad cutter(max stopping power, impact).
  11. Wow!!!!! You guys are funny!!! Down under the 270win has had a great following for many years. It is the min. cal. for Sambar Red Chital Rusa Fallow and elk. Whilst .243 is min. for hog deer. In my extensive experience with this cal. it will smash fallow and reds. It too is on the larger side of the spectrum of cals. for fallow as it does cause meat damage due to its velocity(balistic or hydrolic shock.)It does seem to punch straight through in most instances and would not use it on smaller game than this. Its pros are great longe range flat and fast.
  12. No need, unless of course you shoot benchrest. It makes small adjustments quick and easy.
  13. Has anybody worked up some loads with this cal. I have been using 286gn Woodlieghs and the lighter RWS H mantles with Fed. large match primers, Norma brass and ADI AR2209 powder which are ok. I am keen on playing with 293gn Tugs(uni classics) as have had great success with their 30 cal ones.
