working my terriers, ferreting, wildfowling, roughshooting air gunning, just about everything to do with country pursuits.
  1. I start to pluck from the back of the bird, doing the legs and plucking down to the second knuckle on the wings leaving the breast to do last,i always find it easier that way.
  2. A plummer (or any other dog for that matter) would not fit up the average arse. Do you not do biology lessons at school? May i suggest that you ask your teacher to show you the human anatomy to illustrate why? If not then try to shove your well hard bull/lakeland/fell/all of the above, up your own arse and you will probably notice that it is not physically possible. Now stop being so silly. For those interested there is an add in the countrymans weeky selling plummer pups in the manchester area.
  3. From my own Personal experience i've always found it dead loss setting on fences,i always try and set mine on well used runs, the trouble with setting them on fences is that the fox slows down in order to go under the fence, but by setting them a few feet out from a hedgerow or between a row of winter wheat, there is a much better chance of picking one up as the fox is trotting down his run nice and casual, anyway what are you looking at snaring you never said??fox or rabbit.
  4. You win sum,you lose sum,at least its there for another day
  5. Hi there, your mk4 fenns need to be set in a tunnel made by hand, with what ever you can get your hands on building material wise,I.E plywood, stone, brick,or logs,if you can try and locate the rat run, then look at making your tunnel on the rat run, ideally next to a shed or panel fence, the tunnel needs to be just big enough to allow the trap to spring up,and just wide enough so when the trap is set you can place it inside the tunnel and take the safety catch off with out catching the sides of the tunnel, also the trap itself needs to sit level inside the tunnel,by just taken a few sco
  6. Like your method your using as a tealer, but not sure if your anchor would hold a big dog fox, however if it works then fair enough, good design though really like your set up being as its a rabbit snare i do not mind if it doesn't hold a big dog fox but i am going to try and snare some charlies soon and i was wondering about tealers and pegs for them. atb rob Sorry bud mis understood, thought you were setting them for mr tod.

  8. I always use 12" off cuts of angle iron to use as anchors, drill a hole through the top and place a mini D shackle on,and just link it up to the snare, works wonders.
  9. Im looking at taken up a postion as an under-keeper in the near future,im after some good advice on how to make a good cv,prior to having the job interview, your help with this matter is much apprieciated.
  10. Im not quite sure if they do a day ticket or not,but however on becoming a member you automatically get 12 months cover from basc,i think off the top of my head its around £65.00 for the season because of the cover with basc,if you do require any more info on the club, log on to basc web site and click on wildfowling in wales, the club details should be on there with ref to helpful contact no etc.Hopefully they will do a day ticket for you good luck
  11. Very nice looking pup, whats his name?
  12. Anyone ever shot over the mawddach estuary in north wales, its now run by the mawddach and district wildfowlers and conservation association, for more info log on to basc and click on to wildfowling clubs, all the info is there regarding the club, and how to join,i've shot over it for many years, there is the ever increasing population of canada geese on there, mallard, teal, widgeon, but what a fantastic setting to be shooting in,it really is a beautiful estuary, with all the surrounding hills and mountains in the background, well worth a look if your in that particular area.
