  1. I failed my DSC1 using a monopod in a strong wind. it was so unstable I dumped it and went for an offhand been standing around waiting for 2 hours first in the cold, I swung the gun into the sling position and got failed on a safety point as muzzle had swung up above target first OOPs. Martin
  2. A plasterboard saw with wood handle is made of carbon steel with teeth towards the handle same as on a Sagen which is butchers bandsaw material. Costs about 2 quid in the high street tool dumping shops. Martin
  3. The chap who makes the union screw joint sells at the German outdoor shows, I have had one for years took it to the USA once in my case. Problem is to get the hazel dead round to fit the turned tubular hole in the spigots which are made of brass, then the hazel shrinks and it gets looser, solution stick the joint ends in a tub of water for 24 hours and the hazel swells up again to fit tight. There is a web site somewhere for them. Martin
  4. http://www.produkte24.com/cy/grube-forstgeraete-gmbh-1832/natur-freizeit-2008-2009-20529/ This is a well known German catalogue I have linked it onto the correct page. The size range is in cms around your forehead. Martin
  5. I did the National Stalkers Competence Certificate in 1995 then in 2002 I moved to Germany and did not hear that it needed to be re-issued as the DSC1 now it is too late for that and I am supposed to redo the whole course/exam. Money is tight due to the recession so I will have to let it lie for a while. My tip is, you do not need an FAC to sit out and study deer before getting involved in the shooting of them. I learnt most about roe deer by just watching them from high seats plus it is fun not to be sussed by them. Ask a friendly stalker if he will OK this first though. H&S laws apply
  6. Hello Arveyboy Is it a requirement to have an unloaded gun on a high seat in the UK? I would think the best method is climb up into the high seat then load the rifle with the barrel pointing down at the ground then swing the firing pin locking safety lever up to the mid-unloading position and rest the rifle beside me till a beast comes by. Thats what we do here in Germany. Martin
  7. They are common in Germany. Drop me a PM with rifle details and I will organise one if you want me to. The Frankonia company in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany do most stuff. They are only used while walking to and from high seats and storing in safes-stops spiders nesting Eh?, they take them off while sitting in wait (easy to forget though). The plastic plugs used in the automotive trade for filling holes should do the trick also and are a complete shoot through option with no damage done due to the air pressure wave preceding the bullets path to the muzzle. I use tape. Martin
  8. You as a british shooter/stalker can go to Sweden or Germany or Poland etc where licenses are mandatory and arrange a visitors hunting permit as an overseas guest, you must just prove some previous experience by showing for example a UK game license, so all that exists is an international reciprocol arrangement between countries, it works in the US also so please only bitch about something when you understand the bigger picture. Only my opinion of course. sure most of them are deemed competent by the tests they have take in there own country. anyone could still stalk here with a dsc2 c
  9. The yanks say when they come for your guns give them the lead first, Ha I emigrated out of the UK because of this issue, I hate to think what the righteous baskets have cost me in financial terms plus the loss of rights to live in my homeland under the rules that had worked well for millenia. hi busterdog, that takes the piss, y are they retrieving them all, if you dont mind me asking how did you get the slot for a humane dispatch pistol on your ticket? Terrier work in hunt service and for stock IE calfs,
  10. Cra* shooting. The bullet often passes through the beast and a professional hunter always but always makes sure there is a safe backstop behind the quarry. YOU WERE LUCKY. We might have been reading about this in the smellygraph if a jogger got slotted by uncontrolled splinters. JMO
  11. Are there any night classes is how the question should be written. Just trying to help. Regards Martin
  12. The Germans usually use a SAUFEDER (google it) which is a spear with a cross piece behind the blade to stop the pig running up the shaft and injuring the hunter. They run about 300 euros to buy. LOL and weidmannsheil
  13. Hi, I have a lot of the answers that I have done and stored on my PC but as I am located in Germany and some answers I have found by trawling the internet plus others are my own experiences it seems to be more the opinion of the examiner sometimes what are actually true correct answers. Is anybody up to doing a double check of my answers list? Regards Martin
  14. Children-children lets get back to being civil please. Peasmarsh is a village just of Romney Marsh and the main boar escape happened there in the 1987 storm (but children would have no recollection of that event) so Mr Paul Mcartny or however it"s spelt had a farm there (maybe still does) and a late wife who was anti bloodsports so they never allowed shooting on their land. It"s a free country but the pigs rest in there and forage out into surrounding farmlands of their neighbors, so I have heard and eat the other poor farmers crops. I heard it was already driving them to distraction when
  15. Hi, Ref the damage they can cause. The hunters in Germany who lease their own beat (it"s called a revier) have to pay for all the damage caused by all huntable beasts. This equates to a s''t load of money is needed each year to compensate the farmers for being greedy and only planting corn or other high income crops which draws them in like flies round a t''d. So the hunter is on a treadmill if you will, to keep their numbers down. I will be out after them again tonight (almost a full moon no cloud - as no lamping is allowed in Germany) I do not have my own beat here only permissions, b
