  1. shes not putting her foot down and i checked the foot padding. also if it was something in the foot she would be licking it . she wont lie down on the side that is soar either which suggests the damage is further up the leg. hopefully the vet is right and its just a sprain but I hope the vet took into account that staffys have a very high tolerence to pain and just because she wasnt yelping doesnt mean that something more serious wasnt wrong.
  2. Took my staffy bitch to the vet yesterday with the same symtoms he said it was a sprain and gave her an injection and 3 zubrin tablets to take. he said she will be fine in a few days, hope he is right, she hasnt put any weight on it in 3 days. let me know how your dog gets on cheers.
  3. Well at the moment the saluki is the best voted pure bred allrounder, followed by the collie and deerhound on equal votes. To be honest I was expecting the deerhound to be a close second to the saluki and well above the collie But I guess the collie grey is as popular as it is for goog reason... the pure collie can do the job itself. Anyway cheers for the replys everyone that took part, I just thought it would be an interesting one and some food for thought. But as MOO says above I dont have much experience so I said i will not contribute to this topic any further when I got the first negative
  4. Nice madra TT all the best with him
  5. You see any difference in feet, turn etc? or does it show through when crossed into a lurcher?
  6. Possible case of thinking with the heart and not the head, Some people are what you might call breed loyal especially with a certain breed that has become quiet a cult following. Its like when you support a football club, they might not be the best team in the world but they will be in your eyes. but to suggest a pitbull is a better allrounder than a deerhound or saluki is like saying that england will win the world cup but I guess even the sun shines on a dogs ass some days
  7. For the people that voted the Pure collie, bull,GSD as the best allrounder could we have a bit of feed back on why you think this non hunting bred breed is a better allrounder than say a saluki?
  8. Sorry lad. what I am asking is what is the best all round pure bred dog in your opinion. if a pure grey and a pure whippet is not an option. that help?
  9. How many pure greys have you run ?...any pics? Mainly track/ex track greys lamping couple of coursing greys. not mine my cousins. Dont have pics of them, Il see what he says then i might get a few. Yourself?
  10. My friend I am on about any of the dogs that are commonly crossed in to the whippet or grey in the creation of a lurcher. be they dogs whose ancestors were originally bred for the purpose of hunting, guarding, herding, fighting or sitting in their owners handbag.
  11. Ya but what im trying to look at is the breeds crossed into greyhounds and whippets to make lurchers. and see is there any correlation between the actual working ability of the pure bred or is it just what they can add to the grey i understand that but theres lads that run whippet x greys that wouldnt be able to vote on this if you get what im saying like the whippet adds brains and stamina to the greyhound thats why they cross them!!! lol i found this out from a thread i started ages ago I know you have a point there pal but im just trying to find out about the dogs that are added
  12. What does one offer to a cross that the other doesnt ? is land run taken into account when choosing?
  13. Ya but what im trying to look at is the breeds crossed into greyhounds and whippets to make lurchers. and see is there any correlation between the actual working ability of the pure bred or is it just what they can add to the grey
  14. A lot of people seem to ask the same question quiet a lot on this forum. What is the best all round lurcher. It would be interesting to know what people think is the best allround pure bred dog and see would this effect their choice on what they cross into a greyhound or whippet or not. for example a pure deerhound will probably be a better fox dog than a pure bull. but bull x owners will argue that a bull x is better than a deer x. I just want to see is there any correlation between the actual tried and tested working ability of the pure dog used and the cross bred lurcher or is it all about
  15. Give reasons for your choice. Cheers
