  1. Top up the charge every few months when not in use.
  2. If your zero'd at one distance, shooting to one side at a closer distance & the other side when shooting further away I'd suggest the mounts want looking at. As seen here. Rimfire Air rifle
  3. Good advice for a begner maybe. Once the wait is over It is normal practise to turn it around & try again, I've done it many times, once most of the rim is flat & still unfired assume a dud. That's at the range, if It happens when out in the field I just take it out after waiting & try again on the range. If at any time you don't hear a bang or a muffled whimpy phut then pull the bullet out of the chamber after a wait to double the safety bit, if the head is missing assume It's still up the spout & check your bore is clear or indeed blocked. If blocked please take note, a s
  4. I have both. Down to pure accuracy choice. Sorry I don't do that. I take one or the other depending on other reasons. I know my POI & milldot readings for the 22lr. I mostly shoot sub 100yds with it. Apart from target shooting at 115yds my only hunting shot over 100yds was a 116yd crow. Smacked in the place i aimed at. I've not shot or compared back to back but will say the HMR will be accurate at distancies you can't even dream of normally with the 22lr. Sub 100yds, both the same, more loopy with the 22lr but for hunting use accuracy is within the majic death zone circle. You cann
  5. You didn't have to read it, the smile in the picture said it all. Forget the train set for next Xmas she'll drag you down the nearest gunshop. Make up & girly frills ? nah mud & camo to follow. Great write up. Don't forget the follow up sessions.
  6. Ok to use, done it myself when I went clay shooting, I don't now though. Nowadays I stick to 6 for Pigeon & If I know a crow or two is possible I'll take some 5's. I still have a few 7's & 7.5's lay about somewhere, I save them for harvest time when close birds are more likely.
  7. Is there a name to the pig farm ? Look it up in the yellow pages. Local butcher, nip in & ask if the pork is from a local farm ? Same with local farm shops. Is there a farm supply shop local, the farmer may well buy supplies from there. Get names if you can first, better to say hello is that Mick or mr Brown rather than 'ello is that the pig farmer. Mention pest control rather than got any rats need shooting mate. As you'r peddling around the lanes if you see any one out in their gardens stop for a chat. Nice flowers, what dog is that leading to do you know the pig farmer, that will
  8. Sitty tree for me in the winter. Deeks are ok on stubble at harvest time or sometimes on clover patches in winter. If you have any bushes / trees with berries on you might have pigeon feeding, they allso eat acorns in really bad weather.
  9. Years ago I loved my super dupar killing machine pointed pellets. Then I just used domes when I returned to shooting after a lengthy lay off. I went to 177 for a while & tried 25+ different pellets for accuracy & penetration. I tried only one pointed, RWS SuperPoints. At this stage I was totaly against pointed, after all, I'd seen the light being older & wiser. Well the RWS SuperPoint surprised me, accurate in my S400 out to about 30yds but after that It went shotty pattern. Penetration wasn't any better than most of the other pellets tested. I've now gone back to 22. I won'
  10. The highest mag scope I've got is x32. That's on a target rifle, more like plinking than serious FT / HFT though. I've had & still got a variety of different scopes & use between 8x to 12x mostly when hunting which is my main use for rifles.
  11. I can only speak from experiance, I have a Chrony F1. Sturdy bit of kit, accesories such as printer available. Can be used down range but put a brick or something in front of the display screen, whooopsie's do happen. Sturdy construction, fair price, made in Canada.
  12. I've got the Chrony F1 & my local range has one also. You can get a remote control / printer for them as well. If you use any chrono down range put a brick or something in front of it. Quite sturdy, made in Canada. Here's a review of one, air rifle use though.
  13. Long term camo testing with 35 different patterns. If It works It's in for a more in depth check & tests. If It's out It's gone. First of 17 camo comparison tests, ongoing & more to come.
  14. Here's a DM80 on a 22lr but it shows the internals. Apparently there's a newer version about to be released. HMR's without a silencer are quire loud & a good / bad silencer does make some difference.
  15. Bought a box to try not long ago. Not tried them yet. I did notice a warning on the box. Do not shoot at hard objects. I assume stones & the like that's normally found in fields. Oh well.
