  1. Google "Agrilaser", I use the hand held one for scaring gulls from nest sites in the summer, have also used it to flush feral pigeons from inside warehouses, was very dubious about spending out on it to start with but it works a treat on gulls and pigeons, with the gulls they have a vested interest in the nest sites and are soon back but I can't see why starlings shouldn't be properly scared as they would just be feeding. I'm not too far from you if you wanted to try it, give me a shout.
  2. DB Springs in Redditch manufacture Fenn traps under licence, try googling them for a contact no.
  3. I have one the same as that, plus a shorter non telescopic brass one & a heavier 2m galvanized one. If i need to treat a high nest I first screw the heavy 2m pole to the trigger/gun, then the extending one, then the lighter 1m lance, with the flexi tip on the end. With this set-up any nest on an ordinary house is usually in reach without needing a ladder. Each lance will screw into either the trigger/gun or each other, I think the thread is 1/4 BSP. As others have said elsewhere a golf ball etc is good to rattle about to agitate the powder and keep it flowing freely and I also use a foot p
  4. Yes, the extension poles screw into one another, they are threaded with British Standard Pipe thread, male one end, female the other, I also use the DR5 "mini flex tip" from Killgerm on the end, it can be bent to any angle giving access to those hard to reach holes.
  5. I use the duster along with several different length extension lances available from Killgerm or Barretines, I can reach 20 - 25 ft horizontally or vertically before the end gets a bit uncontrollable - almost anywhere on a normal house is within reach. I have a dust stick in the store but its not seen active service in 4 or 5 years. DR5 with tried & tested (cheapish & robust) extension poles for me every time.
  6. There seems to have been lots of hornets about this year, I did a nest a few weeks ago where they were flying into an overflow pipe sticking out of a wall at high level, the nest had been built around the ball valve in a redundant water tank. Would probably pay to get the wasp suit laundered now to get rid of the venom scent/pheromone, it could trigger attacks at further nests you treat. Glad you are ok.
  7. One of my dogs caught a mole in the winter which was bald from the back of its head and all down its back, all the moles I have trapped have had perfect fur and I wondered what was wrong with it. Looked on google etc but couldn't find any mention of diseases in moles.
  8. Make sure the valve on the top (the one like on a car or bike tyre) hasn't worked loose.
  9. Hi, I use an AYA No 3. I used to have a .10 bore but the shells got too expensive, then I chopped it in for a Browning semi auto but I found it quite fussy on what shells it liked plus the empties were flung far and wide so that went as well. I bought the AYA No3 second hand and had the chokes bored out to Improved Cylinder and 1/4, that was possibly about 15 years ago, I've used it every season since with a variety of cartridges - lead, steel, Hevi shot, bismuth etc and been successful with it on all quarry from snipe & teal up to the biggest canadas. "Back to basics" is best for wildfowl
  10. The farmers have been blamed for ages now for the decline of ground nesting birds such as lapwings, grey partridges, sky larks etc, allegedly due to the change in farming practices. However the biggest threat to anything at night on the ground here in the South West, whether it's fur, feather, spiny or buzzy, is the badger. They are everywhere, digging out the nests of rabbits, wasps & bumble bees, snaffling the eggs & chicks of any birds nesting on the ground, digging up people's lawns & veg gardens, flattening acres of maize, infecting livestock & wildlife with TB ........
  11. Until a few years ago my spaniels would pick up hedgehogs every evening when out for a walk. Now however, hedgehogs seem to be quite rare, you hardly ever see them squat in the road, and yet we still have no ground nesting birds... what we have got though is a badger sett in almost every wood and hedgerow. I don't think it takes a genius to work out where the hedgehogs or the lapwings, grey partridges, sky larks and all those birds on the "red" list have gone. Yet still the government drag their feet over any action being taken.
  12. I have some & use them if a mole run is up the edge of a garden path or round patio slabs etc. and there's not enough room for a 1/2 barrel trap. Also put them in if the run probed turns out to be a 3 way junction. They need bedding in a bit but I find them very effective for those runs where I can't set the usual 1/2 barrel type.
  13. Dogs look good Rolfe, but not a good time to be laid up with all the wasps about now. Hope you're back to normal soon.
