  1. Potholing, crawling into them tight dark tunnels not being able to turn round , worried bout geting stuck, crushed or suffocated! not my idea of fun
  2. Just a few pics from a morning out with sickie (Sick old man) off here. We've spoken a few times over the phone but Sunday was the first meet up on his permission. Sadly he couldnt bring his dogs but we had a good morning with mine and a few ferrets. I should also add that Sickie is a confirmed digging fan and on his pm asked me to bring a pick as well as a shovel!!! Thankfully we never needed it but i dug more rabbits yesterday than ever before! Sickies technique is to carefully mark where the ferrets stop and to dig down to a dead or stop ended rabbit. A bit more digging th
  3. Cheers all, nuff off the hello's there's a new post in ferreting whahew!
  4. got myself a fox call last year and played with it for a while but found it was a bit loud when i blew it to get the noise i preferred, after playing around with it a bit i found if i sucked in from the other end the noise was higher pitched and more life like, i've been to busy to get out with it as i'm just starting the dog off lamping this year and she's a bit young for foxes but i'm off out with a mate and his 222 next week so i'll see how we get on with it regards P

    4x4 pickups

I've got an old landy series 3 which i bought and drove to London from Accrington Stanley, its short wheel base and in low gear will climb a 45 degree grassy slope, its uncomfy cold noisy and when you take it in to a garage you get shaking heads cos they dont know where to get the parts etc specialists are ok put sting you for the parts. I've also bought a surf import, much more comfortable shed loads of room, bit skittery on the road with mud tyres but very ccapable off road as long as you dont ground it due to lwb. At work we recently drove 3 isuzu troopers to Belgium they were juicy but fas
  7. thats a new one on me mate
  8. Not having a dig Jordan, just askng what other methods you meant then thught out loud as it were about the liner Paul
  9. Here's a wheaten owned by a guy i see out now and then, its a good dog, no actually its a great dog, fast enough smart marks well and tries real hard on anything, we spent a day together ferreting without nets to the dogs and his bitch picked up 9 to my bitches 1, mind you this dog is 2 and goes out 3-4 times a week. You can notice an aggressive streak in her mind!
  10. I always take the collars and locators out with me but only use them if i get a lie up, or the ferrets disappear for a while. I tend to use them similar to how liners were used that is i put a collared hob in when i think the jills are stuck down somewhere. Some of the ground i work on is full of scrap iron steel pipes etc etc also lots of power lines which throw the box out but when there's a ferret down and you get a click on it there's nothing more satisfying than digging down and breaking through. What other methods do you mean Jordan? not using a line surely? I dont think it matters how w
  11. Got the family a new computer for chritmas and spent the last few days transferring all the crap off the old one onto me nice new shiny one, anyway tucked away in me favourites was the link to HL, just popped in to have another look and i must say its come on a bundle since i was last on, thanks for not binning me for not posting, i'll try and do better this year, trouble is you feel such a prick posting the same stuff on 2 different web sites, anyway thats me for the time being the pics of my lurcher bitch i've had for the past 14 months with a pals Kelpie cross regards P
  12. Been out the last couple of weekends just walking about no ferrets just plotting up with the dogs, one of my places was very quiet couldnt suss why, then found a pile of dead rabbits slung in the bushes, wankers. Still i've managed to get myself another bit of permission on an MoD base looks promising so we'll see. Meg looks to have matured over the summer Mike, Lily's come on well, if i'd have put more time in she'd have been better but there you go. I might take a chance with the ferrets this weekend was gonna leave it a bit longer but a couple of easy gaffs wont hurt i guess. regards Paul
  13. Well its nearly August then with a bit of luck we'll have a cold snap, bit of frost and its back out with the ferrets etc etc, couple of my permissions are dead funny they dont care what month it is i cant get on till they've had the first hard frost. This summer really seems to be dragging i cant be arsed to do anything except walk the dogs a bit, had great plans for the long net in the summer nights and i just cant be bothered with it, we'll see how things go over the next few weeks regards Paul
