  1. Sorry to hear that news, it's gutting loosing birds like that. Same think happened to a mate of mine. Female got loose and killed male. Females in the spring will play with there leash or sticks near there perch. I had a female that I worked thro the moult and she would nest build next to the perch. Pulling and playing with her leash. If your after another Harris I've got two females, they where 16 weeks old on 1st December.
  2. There's a lot of pettiness about how good the diggy NV is. Give them a chance to prove it and I'm sure you'll be queuing up for one. Craggrat
  3. Will cormorants eat dead fish ?.. Just thinking of some kind of trap
  4. He's got wire cages in the pond, a refuge for the fish. Been on a twitcher site and there's over 60 in his area. That's a lot of fish he's loosing. As soon as they see anyone near the pond there gone. Very difficult too shoot.
  5. Mackem That's a good idea but the ponds 200mtrs x 50mtrs. He hasn't got the funds. Cheers
  6. I've got a topic in the fishing section, about my friend who is loosing his living due to cormorants eating his stock. Any ideas, cannot shoot them his pond is right next to a nature reserve. A way of trapping maybe. Any ideas how to get rid of these pest birds
  7. They eat over 1lb of fish a day. His stock fish cost £5.00 each. So they eat £10-15 a day. That's a lotta money over a year.
  8. Paulus don't think he'd get a license off defra, because there's a reserve next to the ponds, Mackem, you've got me thinking about using my longnet, not for rabbiting. Cheers Craggrat
  9. My friend has sunk his life savings into a old quarry full of ponds, but the cormorants are taking all his stock fish. I'm not a fisherman but I feel sorry for this guy. My suggestion is shooting them. Anyone out there know of any other ideas. As he's near a reserve with twichers. And might get reported. Seen the metal cages you can put into pond to protect fish and damage the diving blackens. But I want to see carcasses dead uns? Any methods or ideas Cheers Craggrat

  11. Like that, it must be the big car little prick syndrome. From the hawks I've bred, averaging 24-30 per year. They mainly want small females.
  12. I prefer Harris females around the 2lb mark they are faster and more agile than larger females. Large females I've flown a fit 2lb6oz female. She was taking pigeons daily in flight. But until I started working her 5days a week her flying weight was 2lb2oz. It took her 3months to muscle up to this weight and fitness. I ended up trapping her after 3 weeks out on the roof tops catching and feeding on pigeon. She got too good at her job and I had to retire her to a breeding aviary. Large females look good on the fist. I get more falconers asking for smaller females and large males. I've seen
  13. Good night very informative, saw some great examples of home made NV that was better than £3000-£4000 gen3&4s. Sony camcorder setups that could see well out too 200yds. Clear and crisp. I was so impressed I've bought. A Sony camcorder. And I'm ditching the ATN paladin. The green laser torches, with an adjustable beam are also a great piece of kit. Ordered one to try out when lampung. Craggrat
