  1. You can shoot pigeons with a .410 but need to be a good shot as the pattern is a lot smaller than that of something like a 12 bore, iv done rough shooting and shot pigeon at close range with a .410 single barrel bolt action so yes a .410 is capable for pigeon but usually if decoying a long barrelled 12 or 20bore would be more suitable. If thats any help.
  2. Iv got a beretta 686 and thats done me fine for both game and clay shooting and i bought that as a 10 year old second hand one. I know and have shot with a couple of people who have both got Lanbers and they were both pretty happy with those two (both 12bores)

    Moulting?

Talking about whether they sit for weeks in the wild, they dont , in the wild birds of prey moult in a different way when moulting out wing feathers they will moult out symetrically so the very end feather on one wing and the very end feather on the other wing and this helps keep their balance and enables them too keep hunting through the moult. in captivity generally birds of prey just moult out feathers at random and thats to do with the different weights that we keep our birds at, in the wild a bird will be going constantly from fat one day to hunting two days later to fat for a few days de
  4. hey I agree with all previous comments, especially the one about the getting a good falconry book. A great simple to read basic book called falconry the essential guide by steve wright is a good start. Another thing you could do is see if your local falconry centre offers bird of prey managment courses or will allow you to do some volunteer work, iv been working at a falconry centre as a volunteer for three years now and the experience it has given me is invaluable. books can teach you all the methods but the hands on with people already practising is huge advantage.
  5. Hi I do a lot of falconry and we use Brittany's as our pointing dogs theyre a great dog. One of the best guys to talk to about those is a guy called Steve Wright he owns a falconry centre near Stratford. He aslo wrote a falconry book called the essential guide to falconry so hes quite well known and should be easy to get in toutch with, i have seen him advertising his brittany at stud on the independant bird register birdmart. He would be a great guy to get in contact with about brittany's. Hope that can be of some use.
  6. Hi Just wondering whether any one has any land which i could shoot pigeons over, would be willing to pay a small fee for good land. Insured shot with lab (who kind of works) Would be grateful for any response
