  1. I was told by someone from another forum to put this post on here.So this is it. As I have tried all the farmers around here To find somewhere to shoot my air rifle without success I am giving up .So its back up in the loft for my Mercury. The reason I will find it hard is that my wife works funny shifts(shes a bus driver)So she works lots of weekends and I have to look after my 2 boys. Why I was after somewhere local was after I had dropped the boys off at school I could then do a few hours shooting untill I had to pick them up again. It meant that I could only do a few weekends and a few days
  2. I am after a silencer for my .22 mk1 bsa mercury.I am wondering which one would be best to get if I could get one at all as bsa do not make mercurys any more.I rang a couple of shops around oxford but they could not help me.Now with this new law I cannot get one by mail order. So I need a bit of help.Bob

    BASC

I sent an email to BASC Last night ie Sent: 20 February 2008 18:45 To: E&T Enquiries Subject: Schools With all the bad press that Air Rifle users are getting lately i.e. RSPB,BBC etc.I can see the time when air rifles will be banned or will have to be licensed. I see that BASC do a lot for shotgun owners but how much do you do for air rifles.Would it be a good idea for you to do a programme of getting into schools and catching the children when they are young. I have two boys aged 7 and 5 who I would love to take up the sport when they are a bit older. But I have heard one te
  4. Many thanks for all your replys.I was suprised how much the sport has changed since the 70s/80s.When I last looked at any magazines the Theoben Sirroco was the gun to have now it seems that its the AA410 that has all the good write ups.I wish I could afford one but with everything else it is beyond my pocket still never mind.Makes my poor old BSA Mercury look a bit tame now.I have also noticed that most people are using .177 more than .22 now.How things have changed back in my days of shooting .22 was the one to have.Have pellets/guns improved that much?.Here I go rabbiting on again.Bob
  5. I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Bob,56 years old,Married with 2 boys aged 7 and 5( yes I started a bit late having kids).I live in Oxford but was born in Hexham Northumberland.I used to shoot with the old air gun quite a lot back in the 70s/80s.but things came along like marrage, kids etc so I stopped. Then I started flyfishing which I still do.I go fishing about once a month.I am thinking about doing some rabbit /vermin shooting again so I got my trusty old .22 bsa mercury down from the loft to have a look at.She is in not bad nick seeing that she has not been used for god knows
