  1. The dog that suits the man and the land he intends to hunt
  2. Very nice bitch mate. Cracking dogs to work with hawks. I do like the light eyes on her
  3. A few pic's of the pointers. The dog is 10 years old and the bitch is 6 years old. Took a few pic's on today's walk
  4. Yes mate they have had it bad. Let's hope they recover
  5. It is lamping season mate but a lot of these about around me
  6. Looks a nice strong dog with good length of back. Very good
  7. Yes mate impressive they are. Their ability work a verity of quarry and work it well. truly inspiring
  8. Know what you mean about ratting mate. They will go through anything to get to them. As for digging like you said they are like jcb's. Both mine will also break through tree roots regardless of the thickness. Using their teeth
  9. Looks like the pups got plenty of engine room mate. Belter
  10. Very well put tiercel. One thing I have gained through breeding and using my own pointers was that I could bring them on as I wanted to. When on the beating line or out with the Hawks they will hold point for as long as needed. But when out with the lurchers they need to but will flush and chase when needed. If out with ferrets they will mark better then most they will hold rabbits in the net but they seem to know when one bolts and their is no net they will secure it. They seem to no the difference between rabbits and rats from must game and very rarely point they just go straight in. Joe sho
  11. Very interesting read that tiercel. I do understand why they say what they do about the pointers gait. But you only need to put the ingredients together and hope for the right qualities come together. A lot of hunters look for different qualities in their partner and to hunt their way so different pups should suit certain people
  12. I also have seen the biting power of the gwp. the sire to the pointer in the picture turned on my deerhound x greyhound and one bite broke its cheek bone and eye socket. Made a real mess of the dog. If it wasn't stopped it would have killed it
  13. Hi mate I live in Lincolnshire with a lot of fen land so when I say the pointers will range I mean they will.if quarry sits tight they will point until the quarry losses it nerve or until the command. They will hunt a line as well as any other hpr but mine will work quite close if they're needed to be and are at home working cover. The pointer is really able to multi task on wide range of quarry if given the opportunity to do so. I do find it a shame that some gun men only allow them their one discipline because they are intelligent enough to adapt to many.
  14. Them dogs look belters lads. Monkey your starting to think now mate. I would say that the pointer I have has put as much game in the bag as l could ask from a pointer. So that's why I'm adding running dog to the mix to enhance the working ability
  15. Hi monkey i don't always believe that speed alone puts game in the bag. I like a lurcher with good strike, timing, know when to put in and pure determination. When you watch a lurcher with this ability they're a pleasure to watch and own
  16. Very well put mate. It's all about understanding the breed and working with it
  17. Sorry here that tiercel a sad loss. That was my regret not having them when I was young and that's why it's took me till now to breed them I was worrying that I was getting on a bit. Eight year on and just hoping it's not to late for me or the dog
  18. Hi monkey I guess you've not had the pleasure to see a good pointer in the flesh mate. They can cover ground effortlessly. They will run all day long. The fram is more suited then some other dogs that are used. Their feet are tight but big and strong with chunky pads that will take on any terrain their coat is good and prey drive second to none. Have been around lurchers all my life but the pointer has really opened my eyes.
  19. This has been a long time in planning. The pointer is one of the best dog I have owned. He has proved him self in the field at a variety of quarry and in all disciplines of work ie falconry, beating, rabbiting, ratting and trailing this dog has done it all and to a very high standard I do believe that pointers have a lot to offer to the Lurcher.
