  1. Does everyone use one? If not then how often do you lose a ferret? Or do you have another method like tying string to them or similar?
  2. I don't see the appeal. Rather a nice brindle.
  3. I'm a woman and would prefer a standard ferret all day long
  4. Just thrown in a young pheasant for my two four month old kits. How long this time of year is it okay to leave with them for? Should I expect them to eat the lot including the bones?
  5. It's an actual question. Why are micro ferrets bred? What benefit do they have over a normal ferret? What is their purpose?
  6. What's the point in a micro ferret?
  7. I'm off on holiday fox hunting in Ireland this season. Can't wait.
  8. Thank you. I did email my vet who operated on her yesterday. His consensus was that the risk of another fracture on the same leg was no different to her doing any other leg and providing she is fit and having shown no lameness then to just crack on and see how she does. I look forward to getting her out next month.
  9. For me it's not as simple as just getting out and running them. My dogs are pets more so than workers so even if they are crap at the job they will still be with me for life. It's just interesting to get opinions so I know what to consider for my next dog. For me it would be specifically to take ferreting so I do not need a large dog. My screen name is misleading, I'm actually a soft female who loves her dogs but just enjoys seeing them do what they were bred to do.
  10. I am new to ferreting. I have a couple of kits who I will be taking out next month. I will likely just take one at a time. I will be out with much more experienced people who will have experienced ferrets. My question is can you work an inexperienced kit alongside an experienced older ferret when they have never met before? Is there any best practices or anything to avoid doing?
  11. Oh absolutely She is hand fed regularly. She is very much a pet. Her recall is amazing except when she has caught something.
  12. I notice most of you on here seem to have bigger, more substantial lurcher types. What advantage do you think they have over a whippet? What mix do you think makes the best worker?
  13. I have a cracking bitch. Whippet x staffy/bc. She's sharp as you like and can turn on a six pence. My problem is although she has no problem catching her prey, she then won't come back with it! Anyone else had this problem and how did you overcome it?
  14. It tells me I'm not allowed to view other members profiles so I can't pm you..
