  2. Zero check on a crow at 120 yards. Nailed him with a chest shot.
  3. checked packaging on the bullets i bought and they are different batch numbers to the previous ones i've being using do ye check zero when ye move on to a new batch.
  4. Topped up the bait before going to bed had some bait I used from pike fishing so I staked it down nice stinky fish injected with fish oils This one was seen on Saturday and during the night. Came back from a meal and quick scan when I came back low and behold foxy was there at the bait ran for the rifle set it up and she was still munching away I made a mistake and shouted at the fox to make stand but it ran.
  5. got my chance last night vixen came at 9 o clock same one I've being seen straight to the bait little bit jumpy let her settle down and took the shot and down she went.
  6. have this fox coming to the field behind the house i have released pheasants around these fields being baiting this fox for a few days and seen him Saturday night i couldn't shoot because the backstop was questionable seen him a few nights out in the same paddock but i havnt got my rifle setup as always , haven't seen him since that night as i have put fresh bait out., do foxes patterns change due to weather.
  7. they have no place in the hunting community if they are doing that simple.
  8. i have blew out the heart of a fox before he ran for 20 yards but ran dead sometimes they run as their muscle memory takes over, most cases have being runners but they are dead and just fall over i always aim for the center mass of a fox heart and lung shot never go for a head shot as i fear i will blow off a jaw and worse it will starve to death at least when i aim for center mass its more forgiving.
  9. i do pull shots i'm human every body misses but only to see a fox run away healthy and not wounded and to become educated, 220 is a flat round and would knock a fox on his arse so i don't know pal even the hydro-static shock of the 220 swift would kill a fox out right., call a spade a spade here like there is some sort of stigma but f**k it trying to explain something here is like flogging a dead horse.
  10. mother earths hand wipes good old fashioned grass and wipe away its the smell of success.
  11. ok i have shot foxes with a shotgun using lead bb's in a heavy load, 223 ballistic tip bullets and 243 soft points designed for expansion and quick kills and i never had a leg blown off i aim for the engine room or front on, so i dont know what you have shot foxes with before but its sounds like you are telling porkies mate.
  12. every method if done right is effective no matter what discipline you are involved in.
  13. i can assure any fox i shoot with the 243 is on the spot dead and dead before it hits ground its a very powerful round and the stopping power is humane for dispatching foxes.
  14. just decided to give it up and try something new, when i married i moved in to the new parish got settled and bought 2 terrier's one a full bred jack Russell and a border terrier had full intentions to dig them but i just took up shooting i still use them for shooting and they love it, i still go on the odd dig with mates it brings me back to my young days.
  15. sweet jaysus the size of that vixen look very butch how you finding the weatherby vanguard 2 have one 243 absolute cracking rifle shocking out of the box accuracy
  16. to be fare i used to dig foxes when i was young but i still stick to the principles of vermin control come cubbing season i left them be but if a problem fox was causing grief it went along with the cubs, now i pick the rifle because its quick and humane i have poults to protect and farmers to help out, not here argue but every man to his own i think and if a man wants to shoot them let him be we're all on the same boat here.
  17. Other lads have mentioned the use of firearms when controlling foxes y aren't you attacking them listen here you little keyboard warrior I'm no idiot the only idiot here is you, your attacking a person that has a different way of hunting your a moron simple.
  18. Sorry but if you don't like it you need to f**k off. Attack the post and not the guy.
  19. i'm flat out foxing atm i tend to stay at them all year because i have 2 fairly big sheep permissions around here so i mainly hunt those permissions i know every earth along those area's so if i did shoot a milky vixen i'll dispatch the cubs, when your protecting livestock, poults and song birds you have to be ruthless. landowners have gave me permission to clear vermin off his land and to not uphold an agreement to protect his live stock for you to then turn around and say when his called you to deal with a fox during lambing you dont shoot foxes in spring because they are rearing young i thi
  20. i took your advice on board and set up a trail cam the fox was coming in 2 different time's at 7 pm and 12 am so i watched the bait at half 6 around 7 the fox turned up sent a 243 sleeping pill its way down it went. i will be setting up the trail cam every night for a while to see if there is any coming on.
