  1. Not hard to get a dog to you even without having transport.I've had two dogs up from England using greyhound transport, easy to arrange and well worth the cost. Agre with giving something for a "free" pup/dog too.I was lucky enough to be given a cracking bitch, didn't want to offer money but gave the guy a bottle to say thank you when I picked her up
  2. Thanks for the link:great reading some funny, some to make you think.Defo worth keeping up with
  3. Pleased that the bitch has hopefully got somewhere good to go to. as I was seriously tempted....well done for taking her in. To last poster,if you have no transport could have used a greyhound transporter. That's how I got my wee bullx bitch from Oldham to Dumbarton(ish).Where there's a will.......
  4. Just wanted to add my thanks for keeping the site going Ian.I post very little as I don't feel I have the knowledge to contribute much but enjoy learning from others who know so much more than I could ever hope to. I also have this site to thank for Seeka ,the best, easiest dog I've ever known as Iwas fortunate enough to be allowed to give her a retirement home. Keep up the good work,I look forward to one day having a lurcher that can work and am sure I'll be looking for help from here.
  5. Was it Advocate(think thats the spelling ) vet prescribed? It is s'posed to be effective against lungworm as well as other parasites. Was checking prices for wormers etc the other night and came across it,unfortunately its prescription only.
  6. Don't totally rule him out with cats.I was lucky enough to get a wee bull x ex worker(fox) from this site tho lurcherbitch last year. She's a total star and very quickly learned to ignore "her" cats tho she is very keen on others we see. My cats don't get into the room with the dogs tho but if they did she would be the dod I would be least concerned about. Hope he gets somewhere .....I'm sorely tempted.
  7. Lovely ,I was just wondering the other day if you'd managed to get him over to you. Will go and dry my leaky eyes now and take dogs for a wander. Have a great day
  8. What a f*****g travesty killing the poor dog just cos of a bit of scarring . I was lucky enough to be allowed to rehome a wee bull x exworker by Lurcherbitch earlier this year. Her face is fairly badly marked but that is absolutely no indication of her temprement:she's the sweetest natured, easiest wee bitch you could ever meet settled great in the house and not a bit of bother.I'd have another one like her in a minute.
  9. If you want to get the dog up/down try the greyhound transporters on the link Frank posted.I got a dog from Lurcherbitch up to Scotland that way,guy I used was great.Dog isn't costing you anything, surely worth the price of the transporter?
  10. Four Seasons seems to work for my dogs, you can get it from Holistic Pet Supplies(prob other sites too).
  11. Wish I could get breast of lamb as cheap as you mention DS.Feeding raw doesn't need to be expensive tho.Costs me just over £1 a day to feed two lurchers and a terrier type and thats buying the food in.Also worth asking your local butcher for bones etc as it costs them to dispose of them now.I also get the bits of chicken body left after local fishmonger has taken the bits he can sell.....two carrier bags full last week, fortunately had space in the freezer.
  12. You seem to me one of the richest people I "know",maybe not in money but in having found your place in the world and being at peace with yourself. From what you say Pup had as good a death as he had a life, hope that eases the hurt a bit for you.
  13. Give them a call and ask.Not sure how much it would cost to get over the water to you but I spent about £70 getting a wee bitch from Oldham up to Clydebank....money well spent(cheers again Frank for the suggestion ,sorry its only a virtual one).
  14. I would report the attack to the police and the dog warden....doesn't mean the staff will be put down. Something similar happened to me tho it was an akita which attacked my dogs.First time she got my lurcher when I was returning from a walk up the hill,my dog on lead......she appeared and launched straight into him.Fortunately she backed off when I shouted at her but her owner, who must have heard the noise, never appeared to ask what happened.Fortunately my vet bill wasn't too high.I later heard that this bitch had attacked at least three other dogs. When I saw her with her owner I told him ab
  15. can't do links(computer illiterate) but I get wormers from vetmedic.co.uk.
