  1. Anyone got / used one of these, thinking of buying one and interested in any feedback on pros & cons. Thanks
  2. Just spotted this on youtube, thoughts? Looks decent enough, but some price! https://youtu.be/nPVpL56MUb8
  3. This is from a friends Trail XQ last night. Red Deer in amongst trees just as it was getting dark. Couldnt see them with a Schmidt & bender scope. Sorry about the shakes, wasn't leaning on anything. https://youtu.be/em1OpRluSTQ
  4. Sorry, but "I've been poaching all my life ..... And ... I'm you're worst nightmare" doesn't help your, or anyone elses case. In fact it's a decision maker for me I'm afraid. The landowner wants it disposed of as no permission has been given or requested. He also doesn't want to set a president by ignoring it. Suits me as I don't want folk tramping about the shoot , which I pay a load of cash for, when I'm shooting. I'll take it down & leave a note & see who claims it. If it's legit, no doubt someone will email me, if it's poaching, then it's gone for good. Landowne
  5. I've tried a few balistic calculators, but never found them very accurate. eg; my new 308 according to well known calculators, using a 180g bullet, would drop around 3" @ 200 Yds, whereas in reality, it drops just 1 1/4".
  6. Think my point is, I pay a lot of money for stalking in this private wood, (it's not FC), & the last thing I want is folk wandering over it to install cameras when I'm out stalking. Not only is it dangerous, it's downright ignorant to assume you can set up a camera in private property. Imagine it was your garden.... Anyway, back to my original question regarding the law on this.....
  7. So I was out this morning in a forestry stalking for Roe (buck), it's literally miles away from civilisation. Right in the heart of the wood, I came upon a Trail cam (not mine!) in a ride I'd cut last year. I opened it up and had a look and there was a few pics on it. No one else shoots in this area. I was tempted to take it down, but unsure of the law on this, does anyone have any idea what the legal implications are? Was thinking of calling BASC later this week and see if they could advise. Any advice would be great.
  8. Continuing the theme, is there any covers for Pulsar units? I can't see any when I google it?
  9. Ian, for my benefit (I'm still looking at these), how much better is the eye relief on the QD mount? I looked through a keeper friends XQ, but felt the standard mount could have been back another couple of inches.
  10. I don't have one, but by all accounts while it's a cracking scope, it's a bit short on eye relief. I'd research it or ask Ian, as you may end up needing an extended Picatinny rail.
  11. Bushnell Equinox Z Night Vision Monocular with T50 IR View Advert Selling my Bushnell Equijox Z NV monocular with a T50 IR torch on a QR weaver mount. Perfect condition. Cheers. **now sold** Advertiser Lamp_Shy Date 04/
  12. Pure Lanolin liquid. The residue still needs to be cleaned off mind. Do a search on flea bay. My process is: Resize and remove primer Check and or trim length Clean primer pocket 15 mins in ultrasonic cleaner - this gets rid of powder and lub residue Then tumbler if required. Inspect Ready to load The homemade brew works a treat. The IPA vents off leaving a thin film of lanolin. I highly recommend it. Simples
  13. Thanks mate, I may be in touch after the weather sorts itself. Slight delay in purchase as my mates now got (a very rushed) wedding to fund. We were both buying one. One to spot and one to shoot.
  14. +1 I've been using a Photon with NM800 for a year or so, and the distances you can see animals is insane, miles beyond maximum CF distances. Problem is, the IR can spook foxes, even when it's turned down to minimum. Thermal is the way to go for spotting, without a shadow of a doubt. It's justifying the cost that's the problem. I'm definately going to buy a thermal rifle scope soon, with QR Mounts, so I can also use it as a spotter. For me this is the way to go.
  15. Been looking for a case lub spray for sometime, and came across some US youtube videos of home made case lub, so gave it a try. It's dead simple: 9 parts isopropyl alcohol mixed with 1 part lanolin liquid, in a hand spray. Throw all the cases in a plastic tub, spray them, roll them about, job done. Brilliant results. When the IPA vents off, there's just a slight amount of lub left. I just fire all the cases into my ultrasonic cleaner, then dry them off in my airing cupboard. Effortless and brilliant results.
  16. Quite impressive, thanks. One thing worries me with the ATN, the "weatherproof" only classification. I can't see any IP rating, which means if water got in, the warranty may be void :-(
  17. After some digging, I've compiled key features for comparison. It should be pretty accurate as its lifted from the manufacturers websites, it may help others. I've omitted all the WIFI and video stuff, as its not really important to me. As you can see, its difficult to make a direct comparison in certain areas: If anyone has other information, post it and I'll update: Thoughts?
  18. For the money, it's got to be a Photon. Stick a NM 800 on it and you won't believe how far you can see. There are better units, like the drone, but costs much, much more. Fox outline at 500 Yds and eye shine from the NM out too 700/800 Yds. Spend the money on a good IR, you won't regret it. Bare Photons are going for around £300 to £350. More with a good IR on board. PS; Don't shim the Photon, it's too crude and reduces the area the mounts locate on the scope. Check out one of the other post on Photons on how to adjust them. Noting the warranty warning.
  19. Don't suppose anyone has aNY of these thermal units in West Scotland?
  20. 200 Yds would be great, I don't really shoot beyond that cheers
  21. Don't suppose anyone has video footage or links to a video showing say a fox at 200 Yds etc? There's an awful lot of videos online, but nothing with specific measurements or distances?
