  1. The greys platinum's had a reputation for snapping. You could try cutting the broken section back slightly , then strip the eyes off the tip and ans slide it through the cut end , keep gradually cutting the longer section back until the tip pulls through all but 1 1/2" once you have that right take it back out and stick some epoxy in the broken end of the long section and then put the tip back through and pull tight , once its dried whip over the joint and re whip the eyes you had to take off use some high build etc over the whippings to finish. I have repaired rods like that that have
  2. Your Mrs is going to kill you when she finds oil on the duvet.
  3. Yes each to their own bait wise if it works it works , I think the main reason Eel section was so good through the summer months is the fact it would not be picked up by other Eels , roach baits on the middle level were mullered by Eels in about 10 minutes most nights ! I can remember getting serious eel problems on the mid level at times ,I might be wrong was this only when it wasn't coloured or the moon came out ? after a few years I only went from oct onwards maybe that's when the eels left me alone They were certainly more active with a bit of moon , the water was mainly clear in
  4. The drains were stuffed with Eels sadly not the case anymore .

  7. Yes the cut off could produce some very busy nights at times , but catch it right and so could the middle level . I fished the relief channel a bit too and that was much harder going though I did have some nice fish from it . Had a few from the old bedford and also the 20ft and 40ft , never got around to fishing the Delph though . Unfortunately our eastern european friends have now helped themselves to a good lot of them , one of the reasons I gave up with the pike and Zander fishing.
  8. All good advice , I spent many years fishing my local fen drains for Zander, my favourite drain was the middle level but they all hold Zander with the exception of the north level ( unless things have changed ) . Bait wise you could not beat Eel sections during the summer months and I always did better with frozen rather than fresh for some reason. Dead roach came into its own when it got colder partly due to the lack of Eel activity I think . I was happy to use fresh or frozen roach , I would scrape off the scales cut of the head and tail and fish them on a hair rig with a single hook.
  9. I went for wood for mine , as said make sure drainage is good , better to put it to a main sewer rather than soak away if you can as its going to end up getting crap hair and all sorts down there and a soak away will end up blocked / stinking . My pair have insulated sleeping boxes inside the kennel.
  10. I don't usually recommend them but for that Money a Hatsan Escort springs to mind , some love them plenty hate them but for £300 you should get a mint S/H one and it will be steel proof.
  11. not me jpk fenboy 1 of the bully boys from pigeon watch .seems he got his self banned .lol Still spouting tripe I see Les . If it makes you happy I will outline to reasons for my ban below. I had three warnings in the few years I had on there . First warning , someone was giving me grief and as they were local I asked that they at least had the decency to come round mine and say things to my face. Second warning , calling someone a "Pilchard" Final warning someone asked for a link to a video I posted it for them , the video contained swearing - Banned Hardly hardcor
  12. Get some decent pellets for a start . Try some RWS Superdomes and / or AirArms Diablos. Don't rest the gun on the shooting bag directly rest your hand on the bag and the gun very lightly in your hand .
  13. This is a award winning picture taken by Kevin Carter in Sudan in 1994. He was so traumatised by what he saw there he took his own life later that same year aged 33.
  14. I lost a dog to cancer a couple of years back , I made the decision to let him go while he was still pain free and had a wag in his tail. Only you can decide but for me too soon is better than too late.
