  4. A little article from the shooting times on rabbit pens http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/features/building-and-maintaining-a-rabbit-pen-6424 they are openly used in the gundog world and are not illegal. Not sure about transporting them but they have to come from somewhere... I think as long as measures are taking to prevent them from escaping its ok. Its only illegal if you plan to release back into the wild. I could be wrong though... either way who cares over a few rabbits. Regards HL
  5. Its not illegal to pen rabbits, it done all over the country by sundog trainers and trialling folk. As long as measure are taking to prevent them from escaping it is legal. Rabbits aren't harmed as they are just to train and steady spaniels. I didn't put a location as we will happily collect from anywhere. They are required near Kent.. Regards HL

  8. I can definitely recommend KM engineering I have used them myself... great service and great dog cabins
  9. My cocker bitch, nice little bitch 2 yrs old should be ready to start work this season
  10. Might be useful for me at the minute as i have just started introducing my cocker to gunfire
  11. Gunnerside is brilliant lamping used to go down there alot before i moved down south. It is on top though the gamekeepers dont mess about if they catch you. Had guns pointed at us on an occassion. Worked out if you go down there after 1am you normally get around ok. Easy take 30's in couple of hours. Its good lamping well worth the risk.
  12. This. But like has been said, take it slowly. Shouldn't be doing too many retrieves, anyway. I like to add a "hold" command when popping the bumper back in. Soon you can say "hold" as the pup approaches as a reminder. This is also a good time to introduce a release command. I use "give". Yes I forgot to mention the above I also give a command but it use take and leave. Good luck with it mate it takes a while going through the same process with one of mine at the minute.
  13. Just try popping it back in her mouth and as soon as it's in there start praising her.... Over and over again until she realises dummy in the mouth means praise then start taking a few steps away from her and call her into you and build it up that way. Once you feel she is over spitting it out start some basic marked retrieves again nice and close.
  14. David Lissets training series if very good for training spaniels
  15. I would use a long lead or check cord and take her a place where these birds fly by... Get her to sit and stay walkway and walk back to her practicing sit and stay etc... For every 5 or 6 stays call her in to you and start to build up a recall. If she doesn't come back then you have the check cord to take control. You need to call the shots not her, you literally need to practice everyday for weeks. I have had the same problem with one of my cocker pups recently I spent over a month just doing this until everything was perfect every time. Not 8 out of 10 but every time, now things are going my
  16. You need to keep your dog on a check cord, when he f**k off you have to be able to stop him. Get old of him apply some pressure so he knows he had done wrong.. Scruff him or something alike... Take him back to the spot he broke from and make he do what you where trying in the first place. You need to get the, to want to work for you... The ones that want to work for them selfs you need to be keep on top of them or they will be away from you. Had one like it and in the end I shipped it off to pro who put it back on track for me. Even better is for you not to take it near any birds find a qu
  17. You need to work on your delivery... It seems like a trust issue. First of all you need to have a perfect recall or else you have no change of getting a retrieve. Try this sit the dog down in front of you and encourage her to take a rabbit in her mouth and hold it, when she is holding it lots of praise and then take it from her... Repeat a few times each day. Once you got this down give her a few throws of a rabbit once she brings it back loads of praise while she holds it. Start to associate holding a rabbit in her mouth with something good. Then once you have some success here take her back
  18. Just keep him on the lead and only let him off in controlled environments where you can keep him under control. Once you have developed all the training properly then let him free run. To stop her from running away when training just use a check cord if she is trying to bolt away from you all the time.
  19. That's a lovely bitch you have there I hope you have better luck with the retrieving soon. Jäger Cheers getting there slowly
  20. Picture of my young bitch pup 6 months old, great little pup but having a nightmare getting her to retrieve still. Cant even get her to do stuff I have got 10 week old pups doing, we aint made it out the garden yet. Regards Ben
  21. Not sure how they can take your dogs off you if you are only get done for trespass surely to take your dogs off you they would have to prove you where using them for illegal purposes such as in the pursuit of illegal quarry. Where you caught with any game? Or did the police see you chasing anything? A decent solicitor might be able to get your dogs back....
  22. I just paid 750 pound for a bitch pup out of FTCH's. I think a grand is a little steep, hows the pup bred? There was some nice cockers for sale on here a month back out of FTCH's for 600 pound a pup.
