  1. Just had a quick scan around for extended (reach forward) mounts. I will need 2 extended mounts, but every set I have seen tonight only have 1 extended mount and 1 standard one. Also, I can't find a set of extended, adjustable, mounts. Maybe I'm expecting too much.
  2. Thanks Jax, I did think of this but was concerned that these types of mounts would not bring the scope far enough back. I'll look into them again though, an adjustable set would be ideal because, as everyone seems to acknowledge, the Photon runs out of elevation adjustment far too soon.
  3. Hello, has anyone got any experience of putting a single Weaver rail on a Browning T-Bolt to replace the two small rails that are supplied with the rifle ? A single rail will cover the chamber so will this affect the ejection of the spent case ? I would like to move my Yukon Photon a couple of inches back to get better eye relief but mounting it on the two supplied rails keeps the scope too far forward. If I used a single rail then I could bring the scope back. Any thoughts ?
  4. Hello, I didn't know Yukon made the SW 30 so I've just checked them out on the Nightmaster site. Do you know if it will sit on the Weaver rails on the T-Bolt ? It doesn't look like there is enough of a space between the two fixings on the SW 30 to bridge the gap between the 2 Weaver rails on the rifle. I would really like to mount my Photon on an adjustable extended one piece mount to bring the scope further back. The location of the weaver rails on the T Bolt limits the options though. I'll be interested to hear how you get on.
  5. Save money and try good old fashioned strategies. I try to pick a reference point beyond or near the target before I pull the trigger, e.g. number of fence posts past a strainer post/gate, prominent tree, piece of junk, feature on a hill in the distance, specific star if the night is clear etc. Then I estimate the range and convert this to paces, adjust the conversion to take the roughness of the ground into account. I then count out my paces towards the reference point and bingo - generally ! Sometimes I have to use my head torch though. I have missed a few rabbits over the years but I've sh
  6. Managed to find a spare hour this morning to check the Photon on the T-Bolt. It is zeroed at 50 yards and I was shooting Winchester Subs. The weather was bright, mild and almost windless. I was shooting air rifle type targets with a black centre. At 50 yards I managed a 10 round group spread over 1and a quarter inches and at 75 yards a ten round group spread over 2 and a quarter inches. There is a 1 and three quarter inch drop in the average point of impact on the 75 yard target compared to the 50 yard target (in other words I had to aim 1 and three quarter inches above centre to hit the c
  7. Hello, I've responded to your private mail. Cheers
  8. You've just joined a long list of people who have had this problem. Yukon might eventually tinker with newer versions of the scope, it seems to obviously be lacking a thorough field test. I cut a piece of beer can and slotted it under the rear mount. A bit Heath-Robinson, but it does work and cost me nothing. I've used my Yukon a lot now and would recommend zeroing it at 50 yards. That's a reasonable range for night shooting, it's a compromise range; you should be able to get to within 50 yards of even a wary rabbit at night, if conditions are right, and it's a good range for the capabilitie
  9. Hello, does anyone know of a UK manufacturer making .22WMR rifles ?
  10. I like to buy British, where possible, so I use an RPA Thumbhole Hunter. I know it has some non-UK made components but at least it provides work for a small number of folk in this country. It's a good rifle, more accurate than I am. Does anyone know of a UK manufacturer of .22WMR rifles ?
  11. I like my T-Bolt, the bolt action is fast and it is a well balanced rifle. A couple of bugbears though; the magazine does not always take the 10 rounds, it frequently will not accept more than 8. It might just be my magazine. If anybody has any tips on this I'd be keen to hear what I'm doing wrong (by the way £40 for a mag is outrageous). Secondly, the trigger is a bit clumsy, but like all triggers once you get to know it, it's fine enough. I only use mine for night shooting with the Yukon, zeroed at 50 yds. I like the Yukon, but it just isn't a day scope.
  12. That looks good for very accurate range finding. Good, well-made and clear video as well, without the annoying background music that tends to accompany some videos. I sometimes just resort to a very basic method: set the focus of my Photon to my zero range (50 yards for night shooting) then move to the rabbit until it is in focus, then I know that I am, very roughly, 50 yards away. I did say it was basic. Works well on windy/rainy/snowy nights when my approach noise is covered by the weather.
  13. Hello, I see that quite a lot of folk are using doublers on their 6.5 Photons. Could someone recommend a specific doubler. I've just checked the Yukon website and the doubler that they have seems to be for something called the NVRS. Any ideas please ? I've had mine out on my Browning .22lr for three nights and bagged just short of 50 rabbits. I got 2 last night with one shot; didn't see the second rabbit as it must have been head down right behind the one that I was aiming for. Both dropped on the spot. First time that that's happened to me. I've taken the flip-cover off, it was a pain
  14. After giving it some thought I decided that I would try out one of the old methods before spending £70 on the adjustable mounts, so I cut a strip off a Kronenburg can and put it under the scope in the rear mount. It made a slight difference; I could re-dial the elevation down from -30 to -25. Might just leave it at that for now - saving up for a pair of binos.
  15. Thanks Merlin21, what mounts did you use ? I like the look of the Sportsmatch ATP 72 but they are a bit too tall (21mm when 15mm would do) for my T-Bolt weaver rails. I might just have to get them and suffer the scope being slightly high.
