  1. Yes please Mitch. This is a great way for a number of members to enjoy the book. Phil
  2. Basically it is a very expensive camera tripod. each segment of the legs has to be released and locked................very slow to use. Phil
  3. I used to shoot Bell Target which was invented in your neck of the woods. It was 6mt so a bit closer than the 10mt you are talking about but nevertheless comparable. As with any gun.............................what is your budget because a target rifle from Air Arms starts at £840 and climbs up to around £3200 for top of the range competition guns. https://www.air-arms.co.uk/mpr-series.html If you are just wanting to have a low key entry into target shooting, a cheap but cracking little gun is the Air Arms T200, series one split stock with a track system under the forend to take a h
  4. You need our Jimmy to get involved here because he has revamped more air rifles than anyone else I know. Bigmac is your man. Phil
  5. I have the Primos trigger stick tripod as in Si's photo which are superb and a 6-9'' Deben bipod which has a tilt / swivel head, same as a Harris but half the price. It is well made and been in use for about 6 years with no issues. Phil
  6. You are welcome. Now make sure that WHEN you get your first perm, that your accuracy with the rifle is up to the job. Practice, practice and prectice some more so that the first time on the new perm, you actually hit the quarry with a clean kill shot. Phil
  7. That makes three of us but bear in mind that if you are going for fac to ensure the cabinet is designed to take a scoped rifle as all standard cabinets are for shotgun only which is simply not deep enough for a scoped rifle. Phil
  8. Best of luck finding your first perm FroDe, keep plugging away and don't assume it has to be a farm because there are plenty more places to try. Think of a rat problem, allotments where rabbits may be a problem or even some old sheds / barns where feral pigeons cause a problem fouling everywhere and that can include a church. Keep an open mind and think outside the box. Phil
  9. Oh I don't know SD, if you have got it........................flaunt it ? Phil
  10. Well Daniel, it is open to debate whether you need an fac rifle and perhaps you should join us in the 'Airguns' section as we have loads of very experienced guys who shoot rabbits with air rifles every week and in a number of cases, very large bags with sub 12 rifles. Let us talk about an fac license first. You can apply for an fac ticket at 14 but you will need a parent to counter sign your application and you will need a seperate cabinet as your dad, I assume, doesn't have a ticket so any fac rifle you have must be locked and only you can get access. That is the law. It is proberbly v
  11. THERMAL .................................................... WTF Sean, thought you had moved away from thermal after falling in love with the Pard gear. Phil
  12. Hi Daniel and welcome aboard. Can I ask, how old are you and do you shoot at the moment and if so with what, air rifle, shotgun or shoot with someone else using their gear. It might help to understand what you do at present before offering any advice. Phil
  13. Yes, Tony was very helpful to me as well.
  14. Thanks Mitch Back to Sportsman for a minute, who the fcuk is going to do all the service work and technical support. Fredrick needs his head looking at, letteing this mob loose on the brand. ASI even take the rifle when in for service onto their 50mt range to ensure all is in order ??? Phil
  15. A chap at our local clay shoot has been using the Jocker which seem to do the job very well. I use Eley Superbs for clay shooting and Hull Cartridge Suoer Fast Pigeon 29gr and I think both cartridges are approx £56 per slab but I will find out if there is any change as I am going to pick some up today. Phil
  16. I will be interested to see how well these turn out for you SD. Next week my pal and myself are setting up a 'range' in our quarry perm which will be out of wind so we will see if they match up to RWS subs at all distances within the .22lr usable range. Phil
  17. Thanks guys. I would not take a shot on rabbit or pigeon if were in doubt as to whether I was able to make the kill so certainly not a fox but I do take on board what has been said. I would use HV by choice if using my .22lr as I keep HV in a spare mag so not a problem to quickly change over but I am toying with the idea of getting a .223 for foxes and athough I have a slot for hmr, I really don't see one being any use to me at this stage other than conrolling hares on one perm where they cause a lot of damage to sugar beet and usually it is tricky to get within 100 mts so I wouldnt rule
  18. Oh sh1t, that is seriously bad news, ASI have done a good job and their support and help has been superb. I am really pissed off with that news. Not too bad for you I guess if you need to go up to Exeter to bollock them. Phil
  19. Okay Mitch you make it sound easy. Is the one from Krale already available.
  20. Hmmm well what I have seen on youtube Mitch, you have to strip the gun right down unless the one sold by Krale is completely different and I don't think it is. In the vid I posted, I think that is the plenum we are talking about which looks a bloody big job or at least it looks a big job to me. I am really crap mechanically and this is not what I would want to do myself.
  21. Ah ok Mitch, I was getting mixed up.
  22. Yes Mitch, this is the one I was referring to when I said £120. Phil
  23. You are doing this to tease me you bugger. I watched the video of how to fit them................................oh dear not me, I would be in a mild state of panic with bits of gun all over the bench. The price is appprox £120 to fit yourself. A cylinder type as shown here is a much easier type to fit, I am advised and I think cheaper but not looked into that as yet. Phil
  24. Thank you Si.........................................did you find your way home ok last night. ? Phil
