  1. Not many have time for fucks on horseback in Ireland,we remember our history, these are the breed that persecuted us and starved us so we ate grass. The working class in England did not fare much better, they were looked on as rif raf and kept down with goal or transportation for poaching his Lordships game(thru hunger).Deep down they still think the same about us.I have told them this on occasions when we crossed paths in the field, once a GENTLEMAN on horseback in redcoat(Irish people have long memories of redcoats,Remember Skibbereen, and Boolavogue)rode over to challenge us while out on a dig,

  2. They would definitely sell terrierwork for a return to free range hollering and tallyhoing .It all came to a head with me one day when I had a gate slammed shut as I approached on the quad and told I wasn't welcome at the dig .The same hunt where I got the nickname of foxdropper and for those of you unaware of hunt history ,a foxdropper was the person who provided a fox when needed ,ready to go .Up til then rumours had it I was supplying a nearby hunt with their foxes too which was bollocks.Rumour started by a jealous so called pro terrierman .Started digging seriously from then on and kille

  3. After getting a few good runs on his first trip out, I've been waiting for another chance to get out lamping with my 18 month old dog, Atta. In my previous entry under new members introduction, entitled, First Night Nerves, I described my first ever lamping trip with a very experienced bloke I know. Although he did well on the first trip, he didn't connect with a rabbit so I was still not sure how he was going to perform. Last night we had perfect conditions, good wind, no moon, bit of rain. My stomach was turning somersaults... I already knew he had plenty of drive and the ability to cat

  5. I remember the rise campaign back a few years and their was a meeting of different huntsmen and others and the hunt fraternity were willing to abolish terrier work with hunts aslong as they were allowed hunt.

  6. He didnt' need to name anyone ,the fact he's tried to transfer the blame from the hunt says it all .They are the only ones with a vested interest in stopping holes . The amount of stopping and bad backfill I've seen over the years is embarrassing and all done by the hunt but apparently they blame local terrier lads . Used to be hunt mad but nowadays it's f**k them . Dug a brace on front of hounds 3 seasons ago on permission and shot both .Thought huntsnan was having a coronary when he rocked up spluttering but shut up when landowner arrived lol.I knew the whip who came digging

  9. Well, it seems things are improving on the vermin front. Quite a few youngsters about, just got to hope there’s no more myxi/rvhd. I shot this little chap earlier, the first rabbit I have shot for over a year. They all count, and i know the ferrets won’t complain

  10. The thing about fox hunting is it’s got very little to do with killing stuff , and a lot to do with horse riding . I’m a keeper who keeps terriers and does a bit with the local hunt and help the terrier man a few times during the season . What I’ve noticed is a lot of being a hunt terrier man is being able to be a representative for the hunt , liaise with keepers and land owners , and be personable , diplomatic, and trustworthy. The hunting scene is a bit cliquey , and they don’t trust newcomers (for fear of anti infiltration) . A lot of dog lads are rough and ready types . Who can come acros

  11. well here my view on what seems a bitter thread, republicans killed more catholics that the british fact. def don't agree with what the some of the stuff that happened, but heres another its the irish antis that's trying to ban hunting in Ireland not the british. for a thread about a grass doing damage to hunting lads, the division in the ranks is doing more damage than the antis for they might infight but where it counted they had their sh1t together where we just back stabbed, belittled and took the how mightier than thou stance then wonder what happened and try point finger of blame. and l

  12. It's only "some" of these lads are like ole Julian. Everyone shouldn't be tarred with the same brush. Many are decent enough characters dispite their posh accents and most wouldn't know a dogs head from its arse. But usually the lads that are more vocal are the Julian "type". If the Julian types played fair and were honest with themselves they might realise with utter clowns there really are and the damage they "try" to do to us all. I'm not sure who is worse? The Julian's, Facebook heroes or Antis?

  13. Like everything else there's good and bad amongst them. Wether we (including them) like it or not, we all have to try to understand where each other is coming from and the fact that we need to stand together to preserve all our way of lives. In saying that I wouldn't trust or rely on them to protect our interests. Work with everyone but 'watch OUR own house'..jmo

  15. But it's attitudes like that, that different types of hunters have of each other is what keep us divided and the antis united, and thats how they will win.

  17. Anybody not affiliated with a hunt has always been blamed for their actions ,seen it many times and been blamed myself .There are those in hunting who couldn't give a f**k about the sport as a whole or fox control of any sort and delight in putting the layman down .Unless a farmer is mad keen on hunting he wants to see control not just a jolly of hooray Henry's riding whooping and getting pissed on horse back .I shoot and dig in hunt country on permission and I know my name is mud with local pack lol,a pack I dug with for years and I've been blamed for loads of things I've heard from mates s

  23. It's funny because most lads I know who get involved with hunts soon forget where they came from, who used to take them out , brings out the worst in folk...... And some of the excuses when on an earth are f***ing comical.... Any dog man that trys to shift blame to another dog man is first class prick in my book.

  24. A few pictures I took during a short walk about late in the summer. The 3 together give an idea how quiet it is. It’s running about 23 ft/lb I chopped the barrel, added a venom moderator, polishe the internals and fitted a V Mach kit a while back.

  25. Headed out to Des’s place today to try a couple of the young ferrets I bred this year, I got there a little bit late and it got hot pretty fast,. We did manage to get a few, and young Stumpy worked pretty well, I didn’t use Tilly will take her out next trip. At the end of the video I gave young Fleet ( My New Pup) a dead rabbit I was p[retty happy with the interest he showed. Take it easy guy’s bye for now.

  26. Thought I would try my hand at a little decoying session over spring barley, just sown. This time of year, decoying, I have always gone shot gunning as the tree and ground cover is so barren . Anyway I thought a good test to get them landing close to me with the lack of cover and also using a spring powered air rifle. First bird to land instantly clattered away. Second - the same. 3rd, 4th, 5th - all instantly clattered away, - something is badly wrong ? I h

  31. As I started shooting before the event of changeable chokes I personally don't think about it much. It's like I read so much about people going out patterning cartridges and shotguns kicking like mules (mainly side by sides). Double triggers ( some people cant shoot a gun with double triggers) this is sort of a carry on from a previous post of mine about how sbs have gone out of favour with many really good high quality sbs's languishing on gun shelves or not being wanted. Short barrels, ( gone right out of favour) It's all a load of nonsense. OK if you really specialize in skeet or trap

  32. Far too many ferrets being bred... I remember a time,..(after the myxy) when most lads had said goodbye to their ferrets,..when a good genuine working line was almost impossible to locate... This situation continued year in, year out, for a very long time... Nowadays, we have the luxury of seeing plentiful supplies of these wonderful wee hunters, .there is no shortage of kits. That being said, I would urge folk to think carefully if they really do have the facilities for finding genuine homes for their young ferrets, before embarking on breeding projects. I remember s

  42. Bad craic, I've found with a few different hunt terriermen that they begin to get the 'typical' hunt attitude that the land is all theirs and no one else should be allowed on. They seem to forget their roots that they were initially weekend warriors before they went full time. United We Stand.. my arse.

  43. Why not? Would you of spoken with them? Because I wouldn't give the slime balls the time of day, the fact that he even mentions there's 2 gangs of lads digging around there is f***ing wrong is it not? Some poor fuckers could be digging on permission within the law and end up on candid camera being dragged through the courts? Tell them f**k all is best.... Not looking for an argument with you pal
