This is local to me so I've been quite a few times... The show has got quite a bit bigger over the years. It used to suffer a bit when the Gamekeeper and Countryman Fair was held at Redbourn at Easter and then Herts County Show there as well, at Whitsun. Since the Gamekeeper has gone up to Kelmarsh, Knebworth has grown a bit.

I went 2007 when it was held Mayday bank holiday weekend, I still had (retired!) terriers then and it was a really good day... had a good atmosphere, good selection of trade stands. Don't think I entered any of the dog events except my friend's Staffy bitch in the "chase the bunny", and she was pants...

Last year they couldn't get their usual date and it was held the first week in March... it was still not a bad day but it was absolutely perishing cold! I showed but didn't race as I didn't know you had to book in early for the racing so missed out (last year they did showing and racing both days, this year it's racing Saturday and showing Sunday - LurcherWorld).

One thing is it's deer park, so if they're given the space, the turf's good to run on - no flint/stubble or anything. Sometimes if the weather's been bad and it's been very wet, they tend to squash everything up a bit to save the ground and it gets muddy/slippy around the showground but I shouldn't think that'll be an issue this year (famous last words!).
