I was just mooching about up the back of my land just now, searching for 'Land Mines'. It's largely shaded by coniferous trees up there and, being sloped, gets its fair shair of water running over it too. Possibly quite an ideal place then for certain fungal speceis? Anyway, I spotted these two. Damned if I know what they are but, again, finding out would make me a more rounded 'Fieldsman' ;) Who's up on their fungii, please?

No. 1

No. 2

Get this going and I'll bring a few more for discussion. I saw some in my field today. Then there's some on my Manure Heap. In fact, come to think of it, I see quite a few round abouts here. Only damn thing I've not found yet are 'Liberty Caps' or the spotted Amanita's! :tongue2:

carra
definatly the porcelain fungus oudemansiella mucida
and they are edible
similar to the mycena which also grow on wood but are not slimy
and do not have a ring on the stem
most other fungi that grow directly on wood and have a stem ring
have coloured spores
im not an expert but have had a keen intrest for many years

Here's on I do know - though I haven't got on line time to seach out the scientific name for them:

Shaggy Ink Cap

Here's another one I absolutely haven't a clue about. But, if ye'll forgive me; I just couldn't resist the 'artistic interpretation' I saw as possible with this shot! Just the more macarbre side of my 'sense of humour' showing through, I guess!

Mushroom and Cloud Over Leitrim!
