hey lads and ladies
just got my first pup he a 7 week old suluki bull grey x bull grey, was just wondering wat age is about right to take him out on lamp and during the day?? and im i best taking him walks were there is a lot of livestock to get him used to them???

I think there is a lot of differing opinions on here mate, depends on the definition "starting them", to be of an age to do what an adult dog does then I think the general concensus is around 10 months - 1 Year, some say longer for bigger prey though..... =@ Could be an interesting thread!

Dogs can mature more slowly than bitches. I've got my bitch out watching lamping and ferreting at 7 months (some would probably say this was too early). She's definitely got the idea and it can be hard to hold her back. She can be a pain in the arse if the sport is coming thick and fast as well.

The previous poster seems to have the concensus on here about right. There are loads of posts and differing opinions on the lurcher and running dogs forum. Do a search.
