I crated mine in the end and slept downstairs on the sofa bed with her in the room, felt like a twat but after 2 or 3 nights she was sleeping in the crate fine and after a month or so she decided the kennel was better than the crate and on her last piss at night she went in the kennel and refused to come out so she has been there ever since. For a while she wanted to come in at about 4 am which was annoying but I just put her in the crate with no fuss and she soon got the idea.

Try feeding him before he goes in at night ' Or try something with your smell/scent ETC like an old coat ' Might be worth a go
All the best with the HOWLER ;)
