Just a quick snap taken with a shitty camera some years ago.....One of my birds i used to keep.... A male Blackcap.....In all his glory!

Its in fine fettle, how hard are they to breed in captivity? And did it sing as well as its wild cousins? :)

Yes, he was in good condition and i put that down to a great diet and freshwater running through his flight.
He sung every bit as good as his wild cousins, if not better and he was quite a steady bird too. Him and his girlfriend built a lovelly nest, i will see if i can find a photo, and laid two eggs, but sadly i found them on the floor after a few days. I was gutted, but that seems to be the case when trying to breed british birds, lots and lots of heart ache for the odd ray of sunshine! Still, i used to love it!
Those blackcaps used to sit on the nest and incubate the eggs together! I have not heard of warblers doing that before, but it was a regular thing with them. I will dig out the picture .....

Blackcaps are now resident all year round in the UK........ :victory:
