Hi,
Any ideas how to stop dogs pissing in the house? For periods he doesn't do it, then starts again.
Cheers

Clean it up with Daz soap powder it breaks down the urine so its gone completely then he wont have a scent to mark hopefully. Then deal with him when he does it if you catch him if not drag him over show him and bollock him.My male done this a few times and i went nuts then a week later my bitch went into season so it may be this

IMO do not give the dog a bollocking. All this will achieve is that he will urinate more. Only he will not let you see him doing it. Thats how their minds work!
I would remove any scent from previous markings for a start. Then go back to the regime of letting him out everytime he wakes up and after meals as well as any other time possible (within reason). When he has a piss i would say a word that you pick so he can be trained to piss (more or less) when you tell him to. maybe this would help. I know its opposite from what other people have said, but i just do not think chastisement is the cure in this case....cheers JD

Thanks.
The wife has just repolished the floor so I think that has removed alot of the smell and he has stopped marking as much. Also the dog is a bit high strung and has a bit of separation anxiety if it exists because of the problem we had we had from the start(all my fault), so thinking of castrating I know that will put an end to the marking.
Would anyone recommend/discourage for a working dog?
On the subject of chastisement, I have never seen it work that well on this dog. He is a saluki x wheaten terrier.
Thanks again all.

Getting him the snip wont stop him altogether tbh i know loads of males who still do this and theyre snipped.I think you need to go a bit deeper on the other hand ive seen many working dogs with no balls do their job just as well its an old wives tail that if theyre neutered it affects their stamina and working ability.Personally i think this comes from the dog putting weight on when neutered but keep exercising the dog and that solves that problem.
