hazel nuts

Hi

Can any one tell me when to pick Hazel nuts, Do you pick them from the tree or do you wait for them to drop off, Do you pick them before frost or after.

This time of year (mid september) is usually when they are good for picking. Best let them fall off the trees before hand.....well thats what I have always been told.

Store them in there shells if you are not eating them straight away.

picking them yesterday whilst out, best hurry before the sqirrels find them
